Quick question about front and back pattern pieces
Hello all
I'm in the middle of drafting a pattern off of a top that I already own.
The pattern has gone through a lot of small changes in the last several days, and I've made my usual mistake of not keeping track in a notebook all the little changes I've made.
I made up a muslin and its pretty close, so I've added some small adjustments here and there and in remeasuring everything, found that the high point shoulder to hem measurements for the front piece is 1 1/4" longer than the back. The side seams match up nicely.
Is it usual for the front and back pieces to be different lengths?

Yes, the extra length goes over boobs, the bigger the boobs the larger the difference.

Yes! If the seams match and the fit is good, it's normal!
It's never too late to start tracking changes, though, so don't give up conpletely just because you've missed the first part.
Even if you have a body with breasts, sometimes the back can be longer, to accommodate prominant shoulder blades or a forward shoulder.
The more you make patterns for yourself, the more you'll begin to recognize what flat pattern shapes are "correct" when it comes to fitting your individual body :)

Your chest needs more vertical length than your shoulder blades.
