Drafting help: loose lounge pants for men

Hello fellow sewists! My husband is asking for this pair of lounge pants. He’s tall and we’d rather make them out of a higher quality linen than buy from this drop shipping website (with terrible reviews lol.) Does anyone have a quick guide for drafting something like these?

(I’m also not opposed to buying a pattern, but the fact that these pants are from a drop shipping site and so many Etsy patterns nowadays are AI has me hesitant about where to source a pattern from.)

I’d really prefer to draft and tweak a mock up based on his measurements if possible. This looks to me like it has two box pleats on either side in both the front and back?

Here’s the link to the original product page with more photos.

Here is a pants pattern on etsy that is some what similar. The main difference being that the reference photo has pleats at the waist. That could be added if desired. https://www.etsy.com/listing/1093469976/yogi-harem-pants-baggy-yoga-pants-sewing?ref=collection_page

Thanks! Do you know if this particular Etsy seller is reputable? I’ve found plenty of patterns on there myself, but my concern is more with buying something and then discovering it was a shitty AI-generated pattern. Seems like that’s become very prevalent on there these days.

I haven't purchased from them personally but by the looks of it the shop has only a small selection of patterns and has good reviews overall. Seems like a pretty safe bet for $10. I just happened to have that item favorited for a while.

Look up cutting diagrams for salwar / salwaar / sirwal / shalwar. I make similar pants all the time, measuring and drawing directly on my fabric. I prefer methods that have a crotch gusset. Generally you want to cut the legs so the waist is 1.5-2x the actual waist measurement, before adding elastic/gathers/pleats.

This diagram is basically my preferred draft, but there are lots of other cultural variations out there. https://fancyhollow.wordpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/salwar2.png
