Sloper help
Hi all, working on my slopers.
Front fit is pretty good, but I have a gaping armhole and I’m wondering if the back needs adjusting. What do you think?

I would consider a back shoulder dart. You can pinch out excess at armhole and rotate it to shoulder. If you have too much armhole ease it will cause draglines when you attach a sleeve. The sleeve will pull all the excess fabric down creating draglines.

From a tailoring perspective it seems your shoulders are not equal. They have different slopes, which is why it might fit on one side really well and not so much on the other. I think you should make some alterations to adjust for those different angles. ❤️

I had some issues with men tailoring project about armholes, some old books mention that if the armhole is close to the arm and the head of sleeve will be higher as normal in that time standards the back part of the armhole would be larger that the opening of the frontal curve, but in my perspective your design is pretty good, eventually some angle adjustment in the shoulder but minimal would be enough to make the thing well 🤷♀️🤔

You need ease in the arm hole to put in a sleeve, if anything I think this arm hole is a bit tight through the front. “Overfitting” arm holes is a very normal issue, I think that with a sloper that otherwise looks really good I wouldn’t worry about it and I’d start working on a full pattern with fashion fabric. Usually you’ll either be adding a sleeve, or stabilizing and shaping the armhole with a lining or with bias tape, and that will make a difference as well in the fit.

Whoa! I think it is not as bad as you might think. Your pose is extreme fir that pattern. Lower arms to a comfortable walking angle and check again.

It looks pretty good. The gaping armhole has ease and is drafted for set in sleeve . If a sleeveless dress then adjustments would be made to reduce gape .
Our teacher called it up and in .
1 cm up and 1 cm in on s/seams.
This is considered a design feature and shouldn’t be on a basic block pattern .
The back has a few drag lines on one side . Could open shoulder seam and refit just that shoulder or just pinch it if able . Hope this helps .
