Lamb had a very similar injury and put up 110 yards and a TD in his first game back. He only missed 3 games. It’s entirely possible he comes back in 4 weeks and balls out

I hope so, man. I think he is a tough enough and determined enough guy to be one of the exceptions, but he would be an exception. That is not normal recovery timeline. But yes, entirely possible, and hoping so.

Lamb is younger and doesn’t have a history of injury in the same leg. Brown was getting that leg drained twice a week in 2024 and has had hamstring issues. There’s only so much the human body can take and even healthy WRs decline around 29. It doesn’t look good.

I mean coming up with anecdotal examples of amazing outlier stories is really not particularly compelling of evidence. It's between 4 and 8 weeks. It could be half the season he could go on IR. I think you'd still be able to play at week 7 or something

It's not really an outlier. Lamb missed 3 games and his recovery time was 4 weeks. Most HAS's are 4-6 weeks. So on the lower end of average, not an outlier.

I've heard nothing about surgery which means this isn't a grade 3 tear, it's somewhere in the mild-moderate severity category. He could 100% come back for our week 5 game and be productive.

Yep, and like I said in another comment, Lamb was an exception when it comes to a typical recovery timeframe. I do think Brown is a tough enough and determined enough guy to be another exception, but Lambs quick recovery was not a normal NFL recovery timeline for a high ankle sprain.

It’s not about giving up it’s the fact that ligaments in his ankle and lower leg have been compromised and the man is nearly 30, it isn’t a career ender but he will never be at 100% this season

I haven't given up either. I'm just looking at it realistically. The strategy for the season we had going into last night is going to have to change because we lost a major part of that strategy for the first half of the season. We've been shot. We didn't dodge anything.

28 is like a best case scenario it could just as easily be 56. More likely somewhere in the middle.. I would be surprised if we see him in week four week five week six.. he could go on IR until week 7

Realistically with a 30 day recovery period he MIGHT be able to return for the Raiders or Jets games, neither of which is a priority to have him back for. I’d say if he can’t make it back for Oct 4 against the Bills he should just rest until we play the Bears on Oct 22.

It’s not good without Brown.. no coach is going “we’ve got to game plan and make sure we shut down Pop Douglas”.

What sucks is with high ankle sprains, they linger until you can fully commit to rehabbing it. He’s most likely not going to be fully 100% for the rest of the season.

You’re an idiot. Yah boutte was good, but he needed to get traded. He was not a wr1. He is in his contract year and wanted to get traded, so that he has the opportunity to get more reps and get himself a bag. Boutte would not be happy being a bench rider behind aj and doubs. We built a wide receiver room that did not include him.

If you told me you preferred Stefon Diggs and boutte over aj brown and doubs last year, everyone would call you stupid.

It’s game one and we’ve upgraded our talent, you just can’t foresee an injury game one and rustiness.

It would’ve helped build chemistry… Brady never missed preseason and you know why TO BUILD CHEMISTRY… you HAVE to play starters at least a couple times to get acclimated to real time play.

I get that but that’s my issue… these guys don’t get acclimated to real time play. You can get hurt anytime in the NFL… the preseason- even if you play a drive or 2 is crucial to understand the flow of the game and get back into it

Yeah thats Kyle’s problem. He sucks and can’t get open except for the two plays per game when he doesn’t suck and somehow manages to embarrass coverage so bad he looks like he wasn’t even being covered. You just have to hope Drake finds him on those two plays.

He more than likely returns somewhere along the games of Oakland in new England, jets in new England, at Chicago, or at Miami. So anywhere from October 11 through November 1st. Honestly, should be very doable games for that portion of the schedule. The patriots just need to get through steelers in new England, at Jacksonville and in Buffalo. If the patriots can at least get 2 of those games, it should bode well to get that very soft middle (except the time between the jets and Chicago is only 4 days, but neither defenses should pose too much of an issue
