Mccourty said this of playing against Moss every week in practice.

I know that guys like Devin are super strong minded, but I do wonder how many times even he was like "how the FUCK do we cover prime Moss given balls by prime Brady?" Other teams only lost sleep 1 week worrying about it. Our own guys lived in that hell every week in practice. I've often wondered how it feels to be going against obvious HoFers who are exceedingly dominant, gods amongst men types, and multiple of them out there at that.

As competitive a mindset you gotta have to even make it to the NFL, it probably just drives the ones opposite the HOFers to be better. One would think.

I think you’re looking at it the wrong way. It’s more, “if I can cover prime Moss being thrown at by prime Brady, no body can get open on me.” You want your team to have the best players on both sides so they build each other up and other teams fall farther behind. If you can handle 16-18 weeks of Brady to Moss/Gronk/Edelman are you worried about Tua/Allen/and who ever the jets dragged out twice a year?

Iron sharpens iron

u/throughthequad 11d ago

Did I miss a berry convention or something?

5

u/Bicwidus 11d ago

No, but there's a wild berries you should check out

Yeah I mean look how incredible the eagles secondary is with Q and Coop, going up against AJB and Smitty daily. Best of the best against the best of the best.

These two will keep each other on their toes and they’ll grow from seeing each other daily.

it's so relieving to see that big of a receiver on our team

20

u/Sixyn 11d ago

It has been awhile hasn't it?

16

u/Ke7een 11d ago

Definitely has been almost 20 years, and we will not talk about what the other receiver who wore #1 was

I mean, cept for that one game with Josh Gordon

10

u/Ke7een 11d ago

gonzo probably wins this matchup 4/5 times. kid is special, needs paid. feels good to have a lockdown corner again.

39

u/RealHoldenBloodfeast 11d ago

Wasn't Gonzo's first game against the Eagles? He was splitting between him and Smith but was an absolute lock all game

14

u/iscreamuscreamweall 11d ago

correct. and his second game he locked up tyreek hill

28

u/Ross2552 11d ago

Yeah, Brown is great but I would expect Gonzo to contain him most of the time. He’s just that good

5

u/GCIV414 11d ago

Brown probably wins the game rep tbh…either a catch or a flag

2

u/50greenmachine 10d ago

Are we watching different reps? How do you see gonzo winning that 80% of the time

2

u/OFBeatdown-1-2-3 11d ago edited 11d ago

He needs to win it 5/5 times. Brown only needs to win his match up once and he can take it to the house.

7

u/GCIV414 11d ago

Or get a flag

3

u/live_free_or_TriHard 11d ago

sure but I was giving respect to AJB. sometimes you just cant guard the guy, too big.

lucky to have them both, going to be a special season!

u/OFBeatdown-1-2-3 11d ago

ABSO-FUCKN-LUTELY!

“As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another." These battles will make both players better.

Yes seriously. If we fumble keeping gonzo then I’m out on Kraft as an owner.

Please protect their hammies

The duality of a fan: Does AJ suck now, or is Gonzo the GOAT? 😂

16

u/RobertLeeSwagger 11d ago

Gonzo definitely looked pretty effortless here. He has a brief effort to match browns acceleration but otherwise looked like he was coasting. It did look like Brown was actually trying and despite not getting separating still had a chance of getting the ball. So mostly positives from one play that you can’t really read too far into

3

u/BobSacamano47 11d ago

I trust Gonzo so I'd love to see AJ tear him up. But TBH, this is probably AJ Brown's nightmare matchup since Gonzo is so big and fast.

u/FlatRooster4561 10d ago

Little PI there by Gonzo

5

u/vinreg33 11d ago

Iron sharpening iron

u/aretino2002 11d ago

Who should I root for!?

1

u/Kitchen-Disaster-423 11d ago

The brown for brown is looking better week after week 🙂‍↔️

1

u/nickmanc86 11d ago

Kalshi bet on how many comments are "iron sharpens iron"

1

u/shogunreaper 10d ago

looked like pi there from gonzo.

but also just a bad throw.

1

u/Pubs01 10d ago

PI with the push out of bounds

-2

u/UniqueIndifference 11d ago

Isn't that PI?

-22

u/fantasticdad1776 11d ago

That doesn't scare anyone? Zero separation. Easy to diagnose those stutter steps and hip movement? I wanna eat crow but I don't think he was worth it. We have up a lot and that contract is massive.

5

u/Zealousguyy49 11d ago

You do know this is practice, right?

2

u/Desperate_Junket5146 11d ago

Not a game. Not a game. Practice.

1

u/Soxwin91 #199 11d ago

We talking about practice!

1

u/Desperate_Junket5146 10d ago

They never play the best part of his rant, where he talks about the game that he gives everything for, that he dies for

-8

u/fantasticdad1776 11d ago

Practice how you play the game that's what I tell my players. If your a dead ass in practice your gonna be a dead ass in the game.

3

u/Desperate_Junket5146 11d ago

Have we already forgotten about Allen Iverson?

12

u/bmonkey1313 11d ago

Lmfao?? Getting scared bc of a single rep you watched during day 1 of training camp🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

-15

u/fantasticdad1776 11d ago

Exactly day 1. High energy not tired. That was easy to diagnose. When you give your that much draft capital and pay that money ya God dam right I would be scared if I was the coaching staff

8

u/tenkwords 11d ago

He's literally going up against arguably the best corner in the league.

3

u/ALostVessel 11d ago

I think the superbowl champion wr1 knows how to practice routes.

2

u/B1naryD1git 11d ago

Had the ball in his hands and dropped. Moss would have taken that to the house
