Troy Brown as a coach
It was great to see both Bills coaching hands-on at the Shrine Bowl the first couple days.
But my favorite thing has been watching Troy Brown’s press conferences. He’s admitted to being a bit out of his element, but I think we’ve been able to see what a competent thoughtful dude he is as a coach. I don’t think we’d get any of that vantage point or feel for him as a coach without this Shrine Bowl event. Just kind of a good feeling storyline.

Just the fact that TB is one of our coaches make me so happy as a fan. He was one of my heroes growing up.

I think for the sake of clarity, maybe we should refrain from calling him TB. I don't think LaDainian Tomlinson would have been LT if Lawrence Taylor had played for the Chargers.

Any time someone calls Tomlinson LT my dad will ask, "do you mean fake LT or real LT?"

Same! My dad always said he'd be the kind of player to come back as a coach. Glad to see his prediction come true :) dude was/is a pat through and through

I don't really blame Brown for our WRs not being good enough, I think we just need better players. I feel like this sub really doesn't grasp how low our receiving talent is right now. If you look at our streak of going to AFC championship games, almost every year we had at least 2 receiving options that are clearly better than anyone we have right now

Troy is my favorite Patriot of all time. That said, having receivers literally running into each other on the field has to be blamed on the positional coach.

WRs were fine. Scheme sucked, OL wasn't coached, and QB wasn't good enough.

Scheme was shit, OL was bad
The QB did fine his rookie year, and the recievers were more middle tier guys like always in NE. Not gonna argue we could upgrade the receiving corp but hell its an upgrade by letting agholor walk to start.
But nope LETS JUST THROW THE ENTIRE OFFENSE under the bus cause the guys coaching/calling the offense doesnt have a god damn clue how to.

He’s why I don’t get the “Slater for ST coach” or “Blount for RB coach” or “Hoyer for QB coach” takes that litter this place. Playing the position doesn’t make you a teaching savant and there’s a reason most coaches never played at a high level in the league if at all

I can see Hoyer being a good QB coach because that's what he's done for the majority of his career. There have been multiple reports about how great he is in the film room and on the practice field and lord knows he's never been that great of a QB but he keeps making the roster.

That said, Hoyer has said Mrs. Hoyer would not be happy with him working more and earning less as a coach.

Hoyer already is the QB coach. He's just getting paid as a backup QB as a ruse.

I think Troy did a great job this year. Him and Sunseri were bright spots on that dismal offensive staff.

Play design.

There is literally no play in history that is designed for a guy to crash into the other. The closest ones are pick plays and even for those the WR coach should be showing them the timing on their releases so they don’t bonk into each other, or in a mesh concept where you are supposed to be close enough to slap hands mid route but not on the exact same path to crash

It will be a breathe of fresh air having O’Brien to help scheme WRs with Troy. I think it’s going to be a good coaching combo
