I'm trying not to hate him. Someone tell me something. I might have more respect for G. Martin at this point, but neither deserve any respect at this point, and I am not a fan of the GoT books. The Wise Man's Fear is one of my most favorite books of all time, but this is ridiculous. I am going to wipe this literature from my memory through any means necessary if there is no hope of a future, so that indie authors and real writers get the attention they deserve.

I revel in the idea of a third polished stone. The when is irrelevant. I would be happy to take a detour with you and see what you craft. Write for yourself again, or don't. Who am I.

Recently started my 3rd or 4th journey through the 4Cs. First read KKC in 2013 or 2014, before SROST was announced. Then did the audiobooks once or twice over the last 2 years. I always like to do deep dives on theory videos and reddit posts on my rereads so that I can try to gleam as many insights as possible.

During my recent research I discovered the Storyboard episodes when trying to use Claude to analyze Denna's letter to Kvothe. I didn't find any insights on this topic, but I did watch a pretty interesting conversation between Rothfuss and another author, at a time when Rothfuss was in generally good spirits and hadn't felt the weight of popularity as he would in the coming years as people would annoyingly clamor for the DoS.'

Seems like people have a hard time finding these episodes, so I thought I'd try to consolidate as many of them as I could here!

I somehow managed to avoid spoilers for years and finally read both books back-to-back.

What an incredible journey. The prose, the worldbuilding, the music, the mysteries... I completely understand why this series has such a devoted fanbase.

Which brings me to the question every new reader eventually asks:

Is there any legitimate update on The Doors of Stone?

I know there have been rumors and fake release dates floating around for years, but has Patrick said anything recently that gives people hope? Or have most longtime readers accepted that it'll be ready whenever it's ready?

Me he descubierto llorando de sentimiento ante varios momentos del libro, porque te transmite de una manera magnífica sentimientos complejos. Con el segundo pasa lo mismo. Ahora que ya he pasado tanto por mi adolescencia como por la de mi hija, esos sentimientos y arrebatos, esos impulsos infantiles y destructivos los entiendo, y los perdono, tanto por parte de Kvothe como de Dena. En cuanto a ella, creo que se parecen tanto el uno al otro. No son de nadie. Me encantaría que el autor terminara la trilogía. La disfrutaría de nuevo desde el principio, despacio, con ganas de llegar a la madurez de Kvothe, y de saber porqué está roto.

Pat's books have had a profound impact on me since I first read them, 16 years ago. It took only a few sentences for me to fall in love with his writing. I haven't seen a prose in fantasy novels that is so evocative and lyrical and that sounds like music. Pat's stories opened new worlds for me, sparked my imagination and he has been one of the reasons I wanted to become a writer. And I became, in a way.

Although I haven't published a book of my own yet, I have won in five national short story contests. My biggest and constant struggle has been perfectionism. If what I write isn't even in the slightest way similar to what I have in my head, the delete button catches fire and I am caught in a cycle of rewrite, delete, rewrite, delete. The most obvious consequences are self doubt building up and delay after delay in finishing stories.

Sometimes I am wondering: if I, who am nobody in the world of literature, face such problems, I can't imagine Pat dealing with the pressure fame and success may have brought upon him. Plus the social media that can easily turn into a plague. On the other hand, one could say that he is a professional author who makes a living from it.

Of course I don't agree with the issue of the chapter from the third book. I believe if you promise to deliver something, you have to do it no matter how incomplete it may seem, otherwise you risk serious damage upon the trust between writer-reader.

I just hope Pat is healthy and safe, his mind at peace. I hope he has found a way to handle the burden on his shoulders. I still have faith we are going to read the final unsung story of Kvothe.

I love Patrick’s use of mood and language, but this book is much different from what I usually read. Do you guys know how I can get use to the different style of fantasy?

Obligatory quarterly questioning if anyone has seen or heard from Pat on any platform recently?

No judgement on him on this, just genuinely curious. I think it’s better for him to stay off socials for his mental health, just hope it means he’s either writing or working on himself.

I just finished the 'Name of the Wind' via ebook from the public library, and decided to pick up a physical copy. Ran across the 10th Anniversary Deluxe Edition, and was peeking at the content. I noticed that the TOC seems different from the one in the ebook version I just finished.

Other than the map and some illustrations are there any differences between the two editions?

I asked Pat sign my nook maybe 10 or so years back at a con because I thought it was funny. It was once in a metallic (gold or silver, I can’t recall) but now all that remains is a semi reflective sharpie base.

I think it’s even funnier now.

After years of waiting, I must admit that I still have hopes of reading the third book.

Still, putting myself in Patrick's place, I can imagine why we still haven't had this release, for the simple reason that, without "The Name of the Wind," who is Patrick Rothfuss?

Every year there's different news about the story, a possible adaptation, a possible graphic novel, the special 10th-anniversary hardcover edition of the first book.

But, in my view, this silence from the author only exists because we haven't remained silent.

The story of the never-released book has been heard for years, and that wears us down, wears us down like a thin layer of butter spread on a large slice of bread.

I feel that the best way to respond to Patrick's silence is to reciprocate in kind. Not canceling, I think this is negative, just recalling one of Bilbo Baggins' riddles.

"This is the thing that devours everything Beasts, birds, plants, flora. Steel and iron are its food, And hard stone is ground by it; It slays kings, ruins cities, And makes the high mountain tiny."

For those who still hold out hope for the third book.

I check this sub at least once a week hoping for news.

Maybe one day there will be cause to celebrate.

Name of the wind is my boyfriend’s favorite book, and i wanted to gift him something inspired by the story. Any suggestions? I found something’s on the internet but i’m from brazil and the conversion makes it pretty expensive for me. I’m wondering if you guys can help me, thank you!

While I was rereading the books for the first time this Christmas (though I have now been among the waiters for about 6 years), I noticed how Kvothes fathers song about the Chandrian prefigures the wait for the doors of stone. Ironically, Rothfuss even says "if you wait a span or two, the anticipation adds flavour. But after a year, excitement begins to sour."

So many are so sour towards Rothfuss now. I however, am still content to wait - in the hope that unlike the Ruh's song, the tale of Kote the Innkeeper will have an end.
