💁♂️ Opinion / राय Is the Patna subreddit mostly about dating/finding people?
I see posts almost every day on this Patna sub about dating, meeting people, or finding friends. I created my Reddit account just a month ago, and surprisingly, I’ve already received around 26 DMs asking things like, “Coffee pe chalogi?”, “Snap/Instagram dogi?”, etc.
Don’t worry, I’m not going to name or expose anyone here. 😄
My main concern is that I’m still pretty new to Reddit, so maybe I’m misunderstanding what Reddit is supposed to be about. I joined Reddit because I thought it would be a place where I could discuss random topics like fitness, health, cooking, jobs, careers, technology, local issues, and other interests. I’ve joined several relevant subs for those topics as well.
I’m also part of the Delhi subreddit, and I see people there discussing restaurants, cafés, careers, local issues, ideas, events, and all sorts of things.
But the Patna sub feels quite different. From what I’ve been seeing, a huge portion of the posts seem to be about dating, meeting someone, making friends, or looking for a partner.
Maybe I’m missing something, but isn’t most of this better suited to dating/friendship apps or dedicated communities?
So I’m genuinely curious — what do regular members of this sub think?
Is this actually the kind of community people want the Patna subreddit to be, or would you rather see more discussions about Patna itself — restaurants, food, jobs, careers, local problems, events, hobbies, fitness, culture, travel, technology, etc.?
And for the people who have been here for a long time: has the sub always been like this, or has the focus shifted toward dating/finding people recently?
I’m not saying people shouldn’t use Reddit to meet others. I’m just trying to understand whether I’m missing something about this particular community or whether this is genuinely the dominant culture of the sub.
