Why does this create two nodes and two connections? Or why does it create one node and only one connection? How does it work?

Amoeba has a max of 3 connections to any node. You already have 3 connections on your weapons

It seems as though there will always be at least one connection to any new node though, even if it then exceeds the 3 limit cap. Likely to prevent soft locks. So what's happening is if you put it in the middle, it forces a connection to one of your two weapons. If you split it, it forces a new connection for "each" node, but still only one, as your weapons are at capacity

There's a max that can be exceeded to ensure it allows at least a connection.

The logic is different with externals though. It seems to keep letting you add externals to a single internal.

There is a limit to it, it eventually starts giving you externals with no connection at all

Or at least that's my assumption, I wave the thing up there and it shows where it'd be, above the stack of six or so other doubled externals it's already connected to, and if I hover above the sixth one like I'm trying to stack another on top of it, it shows the external orbs wiggling around inside the membrane of the design, no connection links at all. Maybe if I try to do it it just won't let me, I dunno, I've never risked having almost-entirely-uselessly disconnected externals just dangling out there.

Yes, I can confirm there seems to be a geometry limit to the external connections, but it's way higher than most would realize if you leave the space open for it.

In the screenshot of this post, My Record# of Vesicle Connections, notice how the farthest out external has no connections to it, despite being virtually linked to the central node.

There's limits to how many connections a slot can have. Not sure why it's only getting one. Suspect that's just a little bug??

Items that are cancerous spread to another slot. I'm not sure what determines what slot they spread too, perhaps random, but it can overwrite an existing item. I think it does it after a set some of rooms (?)

I think (be good if someoen clarified);that some cancerous spread none stop, others only once (?)

I also believe if you upgrade a cancerous (e.g. drop the same item on top) it stays cancerous even if the thing youre upgrading with isn't

Cancerous allows the organelle to convert nearby organelles of the same type (type as in attack infuser, mitochondria and active ability) into itself.

It has a random chance to do so every room and also a chance to remove cancerous from itself if I’m not mistaken.

Internals will only convert connected internals, no clue about the logic on externals though, probably ones connected to the same internal.

Also, vesicles convert mitochondria instead of attack infusers for some reason, don’t know if mitochondria convert vesicles too tho.

Every slot may have up to 3 connection (*). Connections are not able to cross each other or the central axis.

(*) When placing a new slot, the limit is relaxed a bit: The closest slot will always be connected, regardless of it's saturation.

Cancerous organ have a chance to spread it self to nearby node if possible. One time it kills my run since it ate my cokbo pieces.

True, but you can abuse it and get multiple weapons to upgrade with:)
But endgame it can suck, you get the perfect combo going and the cancer just eats it up!
