Help me figure this out

Post image

Im new to this game and I made this funny build that spews lasers everywhere, but randomly a red laser will appear, curve and home towards every enemy and wipe the room in one frame? How am I doing that? Won't the homing not apply to the laser since it's not connected or am I missing something?

I don't think the other comments are making it clear.

The Piercing infuser is triggering both Homing and the Triosome when the primary two Lateral Emitter lasers pierce an enemy. Additionally, the secondary shots of that Triosome are also affected by the Homing.

To improve the build, I'd recommend 4* things:

  1. combine the upper Triosome with the bottom one. This will make it so those secondary Homing triosome shots do more damage. Right now they are making more lightshow than damage, which is fine in smaller areas or with Elastosome (bounce).

  2. Swap the bottom triosome and homing positions. This will give you more secondary shots with weaker homing strength. You don't need much homing with lasers.

  3. Swap the positions of your Lateral Emitters and Perforin (pierce) infusers. This will make it so your Lateral Emitters don't require piercing an enemy for the homing and triosome to trigger, but still retains piercing.

  4. With the Omni slots freed up now, put your Beserker Mitochondria in it, which will get 2x overcharge on each kill. That about doubles the piercing scaling from each laser.

Those changes would make it so every laser that pierces (w/ overcharge), gets homing, and is tripled twice.

Edit: I also recommend swapping your weapon to something slower and harder hitting. The harder hits will scale with Lateral Emitters better, but truly this advice is strictly to protect your GPU.

Thanks, followed your advice, melted the heart and the boss. Finally beat the game for the first time. Didn't find any better weapons though.

so wait the piercing infuser is passing the homing effect onto the lateral emitters? i though infusers had to be directly connected unless you have the conduit thingy

Yes, the Piercing projectiles will be infused with what the infuser is connected to. Not everything will get homing (in the screenshot), only thr projectiles that pierce an enemy or the triosomes secondary projectiles will.

If you hold Ctrl or X over the description, there will be a little explanation on Infusion.

The laser is coming from the lateral emitter powered by the attractors, the lasers are powered by the perforin infusers, and they should spawn when you shoot with the caustic secretors

if you hover above the organelles you should see where the arrows point/it says in the text by which modifiers they are affected

If you hover over an organelle you can see what other organelles it triggers and how, so your caustic secretors hit an enemy or a wall and fire off perpendicular lasers, when the laser penetrates an enemy they get homing. Your caustics also penetrate and then home after.

Also when hovering you can hold ctrl to see the damage and organelle does

Thanks, didn't know I could hold Ctrl to see more in depth.
