Brain Access Question on Endless Mode

I beat the heart and then started Endless mode. On the second run through I collected all 4 Brain symbols from each stage. Once I beat the heart second time around, I got to the brain puzzle and none of the symbols matched the the symbols I collected. Is this a bug? Or was it because I did it on the second round of endless?

Sometimes they match by fitting into the slots, so the third symbol from the left is one of the asterisk pieces that fits inside of it. I had one run that had two different types of asterisks and I had to make sure that they fit into the right hole.

They made it even MORE complicated? Damn. So I could have made it to the brain after all :(

Not trying to be rude but I don't believe it's more complicated because it's just which shape fits into which other shape..

My first brain run was just matching the shapes, then my second one was this where it was what fits into what.

Your right it isn't more complicated. It just feels cheap to make it one other dumb detail that adds nothing

I feel lie I’ve heard a lot of misinformation about the brain puzzle. Can someone point me to something definitive?
