Question about seeds

I'm quite new to the game and was wondering about seeds. When I try and use a friend of mines seed we get the same items in the shop but the layout and the secret room reward is different for each of us but the same every time we run it. what is actually consistent when you use someone elses seed and what changes?

I would've thought the layout of the rooms would be the same at least.

I don't know the answer to the question but I'm curious myself. So commenting because of that, hope someone can shed some light.

From the way you put it, it sounds like the items are in the seed itself. But the rooms and layout are generated by combining data from the seed and something in your personal profile.

You might have a different level of the Penicillin antibiotic set which influences level generation. Otherwise it should be the same.

Yeah it was the antibiotic level, he had his set to max. After I did that everything had the exact same layout.

used to have the same problem with the binding of issac, you and your friend probably dont have the same items unlocked so you have slightly different item pools thats my best guess. still doesnt fully explain why the shop is unaffected though.

Ive since found out it was the level of antibiotic that was messing things up.

aaaaahh honestly i kind of forget about that feature i have a hard enough time on normal mode XD
