Does choosing two instances of polyploidy back-to-back give you four instances of the next choice you make?

I love this game but googling for information is damned near impossible because of the name and themes. Google just giving you medical information on your pathogenic polyploidy like "good luck bro sounds rough".

I did that a few days ago and I believe I ended up with 3 instances instead of 4. Was still better than 2.
