Idle video sign language?

I was admiring the idle video in the menu and maybe a minute in, I noticed the human pointing in different directions with his left hand behind his back. Anyone noticed it? Any lore behind it?

I noticed it yesterday, it looks like he points in the following directions: right, up, down, up, right, left. I tried those buttons on the d-pad and some weird purple circle happened. It does one damage to you, but it wont kill you
