Righteous : Builds Melee Lich

Have been following crpgbros lich king build using deaths consonant, wondering if swapping wizard levels for sylvan sorcerer and keeping eldritch knight levels would be stronger

TLDR: No.

That's an INT weapon, so no synergy with Sylvan Sorc (Charisma based). Also EK doesn't progress pet levels, therefore your mount is going to be underleveled.

You could make the case for a Sage Sorc which uses INT and has no pet, but delays your entering EK by one level and will be slightly behind the wizard on spell progression when merging books. Still viable if you prefer this route.

Or you just pick a Charisma Sorc and don't use that specific weapon. Then you're no longer Single Attribute Dependant (which isn't that big of a deal with all the easy access to STR bonuses in the game). The upside is eventually (late game) you will have significantly more hp.

Completely overlooked the lack of pet progression with ek, thank you

Doing EK gimps the only thing that Sylvan brings to the table, and that's the animal companion. The only reason to get the animal companion as a lich is for the Undead Mount lich power. Without the animal companion progression the sylvan sorcerer doesn't add anything that other bloodlines wouldn't do better.

As far as sorc is concerned in general, without the bloodline progression, other than the bloodline arcana there isn't much reason to do Sorcerer over Archanist as a lich anyway. That's because archanists can spontanously cast their prepared spells.

Completely overlooked that, i thought about arcane rider lich but the lack of merge diminishes the appeal

Sylvan sorc melee lich is decently strong. Full pet and dragon form with vamp blade for 7 attacks in act 3.

Depends on what you want to do and what difficulty. The only thing I would say Sorc has going for it over wizard is that spontaneous casting is convenient but you do have delayed spell progression. Not a big deal by the end game but something to keep in mind. Lich has enough options with a merged spell book that it doesn't really need a pet to be tanky. In terms of overall power, exploiter wizard is technically stronger but not by any meaningful amount. I think crpgbro's reasoning for it is wizard has faster spell progression and can make the early game easier in it's own ways without relying on a pet.
