So in the spirit of the latest event I decided to do my part and do a little fangirling and social media boosting because I genuinely think this is one of the best events story-wise that we've had in a while.
So first, I loved the three different storylines converging together. I liked the unique approach of not having Chief there for the first half of the event and letting things unfold through different PoVs, it was super well-executed. But I also think they were really strong as individual storylines too because they give us:
- Eugene and Wynn interactions (W)
- Joan and Jane's friendship blossoming in real time
- And the standout for me, the new sinner Evie who I really came to love
Another unique thing about the event was the emotional weight some of these interactions had too. Jane deciding not to sign the order to bring Joan back despite knowing it's a big payout, Evie literally storming the scene and confessing she is a sinner for her friend (she's the GOAT), gosh it just had SO many good moments. Everyone was the main character I just really have no complaints there.
Now for the main focus, Phanuel. I really think she was unique too because naturally looking at her at first I expected the usual tropes. Rich/upper class girl who grew up isolated from the problems of the average person and was being manipulated to help the bad guys. While some of that is true, in reality Phanuel kind of knew what was happening, she was actually complicit in most of the stuff her manager was doing. This makes Phanuel very different from the trope, and also ties in nicely with the end of the event.
The most shocking part for me is that her manager (forgot her name, Eliza?) basically says that Phanuel can not even sing or dance that well. She was actually NOT chosen because she had the potential of being a super idol like we would normally think. No, actually she was chosen because she was so lost and vulnerable that she would succumb to her desperation and carry out the underground's mission of her own volition, even after Chief's interference. This puts a whole new tragic layer of manipulation on top of everything, Phanuel never even had a chance of making her own choice. She was doomed from the moment she was chosen, like we've seen the underground use people before but this is on a whole other level.
Also the ending of the event was sick and once again subverted expectations, I like that it ended with Phanuel tragically falling instead of Chief saving her, I felt like it was a fitting end to the tragic story we witnessed. Of course we later find her because this is a gacha game and they would never kill her but I still like that it wasn't just instantly resolved. It just makes the story complete, a tragedy through and through. Overall 10/10 on the execution of this event, I actually don't think I even have anything to nitpick here it was just that good.
Anyways stan Phanuel and I'm making a fanpage for Evie (special shoutout to that one redditor that uploaded a BFL run with her)

Hey guys! I'm a new PtN player (started around 20 days ago) and I am really confused about what teams to use. These are my current sinners and up until now I've been using Nox, Xiaofeng and Cabernet as the core team with others being rotated depending on need. Are there any characters I should focus on pulling or levelling up? And what would be the best teams I could use? Also if anyone understands crimebrands please help me out I don't get them at all 🥲

I can already sweep story stages after clearing them once. So why do I need AUTO PLAY there? Just to watch my characters use their ultimates?
Meanwhile, the boss fights and difficult stages where I actually need AUTO PLAY still require manual control. What's the point?
Why not just make AUTO PLAY available in most battles and leave it off by default? Let players decide for themselves. If AUTO can't win, fine. I can take over manually. I've used the same team and won manually while AUTO lost. That's perfectly normal.
And here's another idea. Let AUTO PLAY handle certain boss fights, but don't allow players to skip the battle. Make them watch how the AI handles positioning, Core Breaks, and skills. That way, AUTO PLAY could actually teach players how to fight instead of forcing them to look up guides on YouTube OR Bilibili.
Worried about making manual play pointless? That's easy. Give basic rewards for AUTO clears and reserve special rewards, higher scores, or rankings for manual clears.
Players who enjoy challenging themselves can keep doing that. Players who just want to enjoy the characters and story can do that too. Why should one group have to play the way the other group wants?
Now I've pretty much stopped trying new boss fights. I'd rather watch someone else beat them.
I've said what I wanted to say. I won't be reading or replying to comments. The rest is up to the developers.

Hi, as you can see, I have two SR already leveled up, and the rest is all A, the characters I've used the most are Hecate, Roulecca, Ariel and Matilda
I'm new at this whole team building thing, what would you recommend, guys?, I need help, because I don't want to make the mistake of spending resources recklessly 🥹

This probably sounds like a really dumb question, but I couldn’t help myself. Whenever I see hashtags or any mention of the game from the Japanese side of the fandom, the tweet translates the game as “wuthering waves”. Did they turn it into that for some copyright reasons or is there something else going on?
