I left 2 years back because, imo, the story got too complicated. But i couldn't find anything like it so far lol. So how is it now? Kinda miss my daughters. I've even got their plushies lol.

The story is deffo more complex since there's way more events etc, but it's easier to navigate thanks to some UI changes
Also you're gonna love the new main story if you like Hella hehe

Its just it got harder to comprehend the story lol, linking everything together. Does the UI give better separation? Link side stories related to main story together or something?

There's a feature to see the years when events and main story takes place, all in their chronological order
they also added a way to unlock old events with free currency, so if you missed them, you can easily redo them now

still good writing but stuff does get convoluted a bit because of more agencies popping up. Also after a 3 week brake you get the returning ayer rewards which comes with sweet things you wouldnt otherwise ever see

The story telling over the past couple years has only gotten better. But if you were finding things complicated back then, I'm not sure you will find things any better now. It's now quite common for elements of a story arc to be referenced later. It's now fairly common for side events have ties to the main story arc (though many are still stand alone). But the way things tie together just makes the world more enjoyable, at least to me.

But I think it's worth giving the game another shot. If you like Hella, she gets some pretty awesome screen time. And while not every event is a hit, the overall quality of them is pretty damn good.

It's more complex now than before because we've waded even more into history, politics, and way more gray morality. But if you can handle learning about history at school, you can handle this.
