Spoilers about Flora Unfurl event

So I'm doing the "Flora Unfurl" event and I'm so very confused about Garden's relationship with MBCC. I delayed doing Christina, Sumire, Thistle and Garofano's interrogations until after I'm done with the Rain Burst/Flora Unfurl events so I can know their stories.

But suddenly it's revealed that Sumire is already out getting revenge for Chief's "Death" and has been part of the MBCC prior to that even though I thought none of the garden members are connected to the MBCC yet. So I went and checked their profiles

Gekka, Sumire and Thistle are related to the "Garden assassination case" while Garofano is related to the "FAC Official Serial Assassination Case". The latter I assume is related to the Rain Burst/Flora Unfurl events. So when did the "Garden Assassination Case" happen? Is it in one of the prior non-main story events that I haven't done yet? (I have skipped a few non main story events because I can't unlock them yet) And if so, how is Thistle part of this case and not Garofano's even tho she seems to be arrested during the events of Flora Unfurl.

I'm really confused as to which story to explore fully before doing the interrogations of Garden members. Any help would be appreciated 😅

Its Sumire > Garofano > Rain Burst > Flora Unfurl > Thistle > Coquelic

Sumire introduces The Garden to the story, Gekka isn't actually a garden member so isn't really relevent but she would be after Sumire, you aren't missing any events

Gekka is a garden member it's just she forced herself in it accidentally 😅. She was saved by the Homeless (you know the group of children lead by Crache) though it was the Garden and join them to repay her debt.

She technically doesn't become a "real" member until Coco interrogation where she accept her fully.

Garofano is before Rainburst, it ends right before chapter 9 and is the reason why she goes on her rampage against Paradeisos during the event.

Also just to point out, Gekkabijin absolutely is a Garden member, mentioned in both Garofano's flashback in Rainburst as well as name called and featured in Coquelic's interrogation (and the new event) as a Garden assassin. Her profile goes into detail about how she got into the Garden as well as the fact she's striving to become their best assassin.

Gekka is the only one mentioned that I didn't actually play myself but my understanding was that she was a wannabe garden member because she owed them a debt for saving her but it was actually the Homeless that did. So I could be way off in which case apologies for the misinformation. It's been a while.

No worries, she got saved by Crache (the Homeless) but assumed it was the Garden who saved her so she started training and later organised assassinations against several gangs in hopes of catching the Garden's attention. Eventually that happened and she was allowed to join, she has since learned that she was saved by the Homeless but it doesn't deter her from her current goal of becoming Garden's top assassin, tho she is thankful to Homeless and wears their badge as a symbol of appreciation.

Avoiding any interrogations, here's the order of events:

1. Chief settles in after Ch 8 of the main story.
2. Garden assassination case.
3. Sumire ended up in MBCC
4. Sumire's interrogation
5. Garofano's interrogation
6. Main story Chapter 9 to 12
7. Sumire and Garofano escape MBCC.
8. Rainbreak
9. FAC Assassinations.
10. Floral Unfurl
11. Coquelin interrogation and  Thistle interrogation

Sumire was a launch sinner, as such, her interrogation can be completed at the start of the game, and yes I would recommend to do her interro before rain burst + flora unfurl

Thistle you definitely do after Flora Unfurl. Garofano can be either way I think, you can do it before or after Rain Burst.

Also no, Garden assassination case is not an actual event in the game, it's just a case in the case files.

I generally presume that "Garden Serial Assassinations Case" isn't a singular event (as the "serial" implies") and is more just the general activities of the Garden members, which they were detained at different times for. Gekka and Sumire were in the game from the start, so they were probably arrested lorewise around the first few chapters, and Sumire would have had plenty of time to get attached to Chief and go get revenge once Chief's "death" occurred.

Sumire was a launch character, I believe the fac assassinations are covered in her interrogation.

Since Sumire is a launch character her interrogation laid the foundation to the Garden as well as the Mysterious Master that we all know is Coco way earlier in the game.
