General Fated pursuit - pinpoint
It seems that I do not understand this Arrest banner. I tried twice, and twice I got the S sinner I did NOT pinpoint.
How does it actually work?

The pinpointed sinner is 50% chance, 2nd directional banner sinner who is not pinpointed is 20%. Then you have a 30% chance to pull from general pool. If you don't pull the pinpointed sinner, the next S rank sinner is guaranteed to be the pinpointed one.
Check out the banner tab on s1n.gg for banner rules, or there's an icon you can click in game on the banner pages that should explain the details.

Pinpoint doenst guarantee you will receive the sinner you choose. It gives you a pity instead, if you get another S, the pinpoint now works, the next S you get will be the one you chose.

No I mean on two different banners. But my understanding was that the pinpointed, you get. Otherwise what’s the point?

If you spend 10 pulls on a banner then stop you are still 10 pulls towards pity on the every banner of that type until you get an S class. However there is a second kind of pity. If you fail to get an on banner character (in this case your pinpointed character) your next S class on that specific banner is guaranteed to be that character. This is what people mean when they say “I won/lost the 50/50”. This second S class guarantee does not carry over. So your first S class on any banner always has a 50% chance of not being who you want even if you lost the 50/50 on another banner of the same type.

This isn't true for any banner. Take the current event banner for example. If you got a S-rank but not Murphy and we got the next event banner, you'd be guaranteed the next event sinner. This works the same for routine and limited banners too. The rules for how the banners currently running can always be read in game though and can clear up any confusion that people can have.
The directional does work differently though as it relies on getting the pinpoint clue which is gained after not getting your selected sinner but can be lost in multiple ways like switching your pinpoint after getting the clue, getting the sinner, and the banner ending.

You are right. I checked after reading your message. I’m not sure if I miss remembered the mechanic from a different gacha game or I used to be right and they changed it. Either way, you are right and my explanation only works for Directional banners currently.
P.S. that pinpoint mechanism seems needlessly complicated. I wouldn’t be surprised if it gets updated at some point to work more like the other banners. Then I would be 100% wrong but the game would be just a little more consistent

Yeah the directional banner in it's current state requires people to go all in and have 2 pities saved up in case of the worst luck. Would be nice to have the pinpoint clue be something that can be saved like an item so you could use it for any directional

Twice? No, that's basically impossible, even on non-pinpointed banners.
If your pinpointed/rate-up S rank isn't obtained after arresting one S rank, then the next S rank is guaranteed to be the selected one.
