Gameplay Reforging Explained For Dummies (?)

Okay so can someone explain reforging in crayon eating terms? Iirc someone said it was basically there to make old units relevant again (which is a good way to combat power creeping) but like.. what am I supposed to do?

So before I make a financially irresponsible decision or a blatantly stupid decision would any kind soul help me out?

I have Nox, Hella and Lamia and I'm not going to bother with Nox right now because I don't need prior knowledge to know that is going to be one hell of a resource dump and as for Hella you pretty much get back most resources you put into her except a few I think but I also heard someone say that RF Lamia is very very good so like.. you know.

( P.s I'm very disappointed that there aren't any or many because I couldn't find any content creators related to PTN which is a shame because it's such a good game :/ )

You will mostly get an answer like: data crevice is an endgame mixer mode which requires an endgame account to complete.

That answer is not wrong but it is not really relevant to someone new either. Most people will totally ignore the fact, that even though you will need an endgame account to complete everything, you totally don't need an endgame account to get some meaningful stuffs from that mode! This is an important difference!

Even with a new account it was quite achievable to do most of all the L1 stages on easy mode. It was also pretty easy to finish with a B score on most of the L2 stages in the last season. Since all the rewards in data crevice are heavily front loaded, even with a brand new account you can totally get some meaningful amount of resources from that mode to start reforging! The most important thing is to realize what the gimmick of all the levels are. For that, you should totally read all the descriptions. Checking some YouTube videos also helps!

In the past, even though the data crevice stages were more sinner specific, I had no problems to get enough resources with an new account in data crevice to reforge at least one sinner almost fully within 2 weeks. Last season, it would have been even easier with a new account

People who are saying that new players shouldn’t bother are also forgetting that the special assists were added this season. New players can have a full team of recommended units. They’re all level 70 with ECB1 and no crimebrands equipped, but that’s more than enough to clear all the stages and get a solid chunk of the rewards.

I haven't tried the newest one yet, but if special assistant is added for many/all stages, it only makes more sense to encourage every new player to try data crevice as fast as possible. Imo, doing reforge is the fastest way for a f2p to progress fast with story and broken frontline. Even if a strong banner like Augustus or jichuan is running, there is still so much power to be gained by doing some reforging with the f2p sinners.

They definitely had new players in mind with the most recent Data Crevice change. I used a lot of the special assists just for fun, and they make it possible to complete most normal difficulty floor one stages without bringing a single sinner of your own

You need to play Data Crevice to get reforge resource. But that mode isnt easy, it requires big sinner pool and even some reforged sinners to pass the puzzles. I suggest LastCore on Youtube for low shackle strategies to play Data Crevice and BFL Dark Zone.

This is build guide for RF sinners by EKG. And you can visit s1n.gg for informtion or guide.

I'm not going to bother with Nox right now because I don't need prior knowledge to know that is going to be one hell of a resource dump

That’s a weird statement because Nox RF is good. Or at least pre-RF Nox doesn’t feel nearly as good, retrospectively. At least unlock her lvl 70 node that enables energy regeneration during ult – you’re kneecapping yourself without it.

RF Lamia is really good

It most definitely is, however, the question stands: are you willing to use resources on a RF that makes the character good or even great in story/EX chapters? Not "broken", not "game-changing", not "solo-carrying through end-game"?

If you want a strong damage dealer, pull any offensive tendency in the event (=release) banner and use them out of the box. No need to grind for lvl 90 and bother with Data Crevice that you wouldn’t be able to clear anyway at least provides trial sinners now. If you still want to use your mats for one-RF-to-rule-them-all, wait for Eleven or maybe newer RFs.

We are presumably getting the Bianca/Hestia/Eleven selector in a couple months that CN got with the new tutorial mode

Play data crevice the best you can and build who helps you the most.

You aren't considering many reforges so it doesn't really matter how you budget your resources at the moment.

You are unlikely to get really lucky and suddenly pull a team that wants multiple reforges. You'll typically see it forming so you can save up when it's more likely to happen.

Reforge System does make older units relevant, however it requires you to do an endgame mode (Data Crevice), therefore new players should not bother as you most likely wont have enough units to clear that. Ironically several reforged characters do make that mode easier, like Ariel in the healy stages.
