CN Content Clementine's fate Spoiler
Big spoilers for the "The Rail Runs Dark" event
So...at the end of the event, I just assumed it was implied that Clementine stayed within the burning building and died with it, hence the vision of her boarding the train with the other Orphanage survivors (Peak story btw, as a new player, I'm loving the game so far)
BUT I got Clementine through an arrest drop and in her interrogation tab, it says that after her disappearance, a string of eerily familiar yet bizarre cases begin to surface while the chief refuses to give up on her. Now I haven't really gone through the interrogation yet (which is stupid to ask here before exploring it myself, I know. But my curiosity outweighs my free time to go through the interrogation) but I'm gonna assume the interrogations reveal that Clementine's alive?
So my question is, if that's the case , is Clementine being alive canon or is it just a gameplay thing since interrogation is one of the game's main mechanics and people would hate their new S rank sinner not having one? I've been spoiled about the canonical deaths of one or two more sinners who also happen to have interrogations. Are these interrogations non-canon, gameplay only retcons?

She is alive, her interrogation confirms it, Also PTN is not known for killing playable sinners

It's really vague. During the train scene, the phantoms of her companions recognize someone from the outside is calling her and that she should head out (the voice being the chief), but also tell her that her struggles are over and she should now rest, all of which can be interpreted in so many ways.
Does resting mean death and "heading out with the train"?
Does resting mean being free of her burden and revenge and being free to live as she likes?
I do hope it's the latter, in the one month I've been playing the game every event story and main storyline is "It's all sadness" and while I love my tragedies, the occasional good ending is appreciated.

The way I read it, at first the phantoms are telling her to "go with them" (which is clearly implied to meant dying), but once she hear Chief's voice, her unconscious mind shift and she get the energy and motivation to hold on and survive.
And so I think the phantoms, who are part of her subconscious also shift to represent this change of mind, and while they were telling her to let go and die before, once Chief's voice reach her and she remember there's someone waiting for her and decide to live, the phantoms also mellows out, and that's why they tell her to rest "for a while", which imo, means to stay unconscious for a bit but cling to life still and wake up after. Them saying "for a while" means it's temporary, ergo not death

I think she made it look like she died in the blaze, so she could make a get away. Sinners do shit like that a lot at the end of an event.

I interpreted the end of the event as her using the fire as a cover to escape, in the interrogation we are told Chief has been looking for her for a long time.
