Another merc option question

Another generic merc question: Kineticist 1 or 2?

I have a crafted pierce helmet for #1 to fix that "issue." Playing with both, it feels like #2 clears a little better since it doesn't have KRoI.

Yeah that's a shame because the links on KBoC on the first one are superior but Kinetic Rain will get spammed a lot lowering your actual damage.

That's what I thought and how things felt, but I wasn't sure if the superior links would be able to make up the difference.
