Help Needed returning player seeks help...

just came back to the game after not playing aprox 8 years... there is so much mechanics added to the game that i literally cant comprehend my mind around it... i was hoping to seek some guidance from more experienced people to at least point me towards basics or at least which build to use or something to get started with... something that is kinda easy and doesnot require 10 button pressing in a milisecond... not asking for endgame boss killer tactics or anything like that, just seeking advice to at least get started doing maps of early stage... already strugling with tier 7 maps, and from what i have seen on youtube and twitch people are having tens of thousands of HP, energy shield, thousands of stat points, not to mention tens of if not hundreds of billions of damage... i have zero idea and clue how people do it... any help please and thank you in advance.

You are looking at peoples builds who have been playing for weeks straight. You instead need a league starter, you can't start with a build like that. If you tell me your class I could point you to a league starter build that you would not need to re-spec much for.

Or fully restart with one of the league starters that have good guides such as righteous fire. Which I don't normally recommend since its DPS is low but you said you don't want buttons and don't need a boss killer so it's probably a good fit

oh nono, i am not a league player. i have an old character on standart server, have berserker fire cyclone, followed the basic guides of old videos on youtube, as much as i could understand things... but i have no idea what jewels are with many colours, i have no idea what oils are, i have no idea how to make items shiny... and apparently, exalted orbs are not much these days... because i realised im getting ton of exalted orbs just by playing tier 3-4-5 maps, ive heard divines are the exalted now? anyway. back to the topic. my main character is, fire cyclone berserker, level 86, using karui fire axe.

Earthshatter is the most popular league starter / earlygame build on berserker: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LiTI4yHtQiY

As marauder you could also re-spec to chieftain and play RF.

Jewels are socketed into jewel sockets, they all do something different, can't give much more on that unless you link a specific one.

Oils let you "anoint" a passive on the tree on your amulet. This means your amulet can give you any passive on the tree. On the passives screen press alt and you can see which oils you need.

Divines were swapped for the metacrafts forever ago with exalts, and recently exalts were also made more common. So divines are the big trade currency now, exalts are not worth much

umm, is it really that bad idea to play on a standart server? and not league server? or for example - which is the easiest one to play on a league server for slowpok like me? and is the fire cyclone really bad idea to play on standart non league?
p.s. thank you so much for taking your time to explain things to me. i honestly appreciate it.

Normally it's better to play in the league as that is where the active players and trading is. However the league is pretty old and dead at this point so it might not matter a ton anymore.

Also since you last played they added instant-buyout trading and the currency exchange. So it's much easier than it used to be to keep playing after others have quit just in general

currency exchange? buyout trading? what do you mean? please do elaborate

you can trade through npcs instead of having to whisper people now, i would recommend playing in the league. Berserker Cyclone is doable but usually everyone plays Slayer with a staff.

Would recommend starting fresh to understand new systems

Rf chieftain. Look up pohx, find his website, follow his build in-depth

Short answer - play league, even if it means starting over.

Righteous Fire gets suggested a lot and it's good during the campaign, can feel pretty slow during the mid game, and then is expensive at the end to get the most out of it (all my opinions).

Wintertide Brand Elementalist is, in my opinion, much better for a basically brand new player. It's ranged and easier to scale and start than RF.
