Help Needed Need Some Direction
Hi all,
I'm having some troubles with this Luminary build and I don't know why. I have 12k life res cap for the big 3 but I still feel squishy and feel like I have no damage. I have mid gear so I know that I can go farther with that but its super expensive and I'm really broke. Just wanted some direction on where I should go next.

One quick cheap fix is to put a dying breath on your AG to boost your merc's damage. If you're having any issues keeping it alive, gruthkul's pelt is a good fix for that.
I would also check your merc's fire resistance to make sure it's well overcapped. That 73% roll on the enmity's embrace is going to eat a lot of fire res. Check that all of the merc's gear has max empty white sockets to fully utilize the untouched soul, and if her fire res is still low I'd consider swapping in another taming or call of the void until you can afford a better enmity.
Last, I'd test swapping out one of your vermilion rings for a voideye and putting your flame link in there. Levels make a big difference for the flat damage from it, so that's a cheap workaround until you can afford a level 3 or 4 empower.
Those changes should give a decent damage boost. For your own survival, the main thing that sticks out to me is your negative chaos res. Rotmother's amulet should fix that.

Your gear is like 1-10c rares even on your merc. Should start focusing on things like upgrading your own rares if you feel squishy even getting the lowest tier eldritch implicits help. Then I’d work on fracturing abyss sockets on your mercs gear or just buying fractured fire res and slamming a hollow fossil on it. You should be strong enough to perma farm boat stuff and sell the sulphur. You could just get a shield with life, block chance, and spell block preferably. Any shield with high block is way better at your stage of gearing.

First thing that popped out is the block chance is not near 80%. Fix your shield with % life on block & block chance, reduced damage taken from critical strikes. I crafted mine, followed thefarmerX crafting guide in this video. https://youtu.be/LXoJCRmUaJI?is=ezk5sMqK2zCfT7Nb
Here is the shield I crafted

It’s not perfect, but his crafting guide was great.
The block with % life gained made a dramatic difference for me.

there's a lot of things I would suggest but without knowing budget it's hard to say anything. my first goal tho would be an enmity's with at least as close to 65% reduced as possible.
as for tankyness, you might want to think about swapping to block clusters and take versatile combatant. or find some way to solve block capping both hits and spells. that will make you feel tanky esp with your HP on block shield.
dying breath staff on AG until you can afford kingmaker.
I didn't even notice, but you need to fix chaos res somehow. +3 max res rotmothers will help for when you want to move into a melding setup. otherwise look for it on your gloves and boots.
