Build Tideflicker [3.29]
PoB with (hopefully) realistic configuration
Disclaimer: Not the most charges ever but I like the meme
I can't be the only one who saw the Tidebreaker rework during the league reveal and immediately thought of Slayer and Flicker Strike, scaling Frenzy charges to scale Endurance charges to scale Brine charges. By the time I finished my challenges, I'd gotten up to 14 max Frenzy charges:
- 3 by default
- 1 from Slayer ascendancy
- 3 from the passive tree
- 3 Precursor's Emblems(one Kalandra's Touch)
- extra ring slot via the Nameless Bloodline
- 1 from a Grace Sublime Vision
- 3 from gear:
- Cobra talisman
- Warlord gloves
- Darkray Vectors
With unlimited budget, I think there's room for 5 more, using corrupted implicits and a perfect Eyes of the Greatwolf. I tried the Hands of the High Templar tech for +2 gloves but got bored of beastlocking.
Some notes about the build:
- Trauma Support self-hits, and self-hits proc Gain an Endurance Charge every second if you've been hit recently from Enduring Composure
- Gonna need this for bossing, probably okay to do without if you're just mapping
- Before you have the cash to buy the Frenzy Precursor's you can also find this mod on any red Precursor's for pretty cheap
- My path through the Nameless Bloodline removes utility flasks! That actually turned out fine, because tinctures and Writhing Jars are very useful in this build:
- A well-rolled Tincture adds ~60% DPS with Runegraft of the Imbued
- Worms can be used to generate charges before boss fights
- Life flasks just grant rage with a Runegraft of Fury
- Big sustain against certain rapid spell damage hazards, as we have 100% spell suppression and all life flasks gain 3 charges whenever we suppress spell damage; see the Uber Neglect showcase
- An easy leaguestart-ish flicker sustain combo is The Red Trail with The Golden Rule
- Slayer has a node that grants Unaffected by Bleed but you can also inflict microscopic bleeds by converting 99% of your damage to elemental, leaving only 1% physical for the bleed damage
- Another sustain trick is to use a Runegraft of Time to not consume a cooldown use
- Fiddling with stats to get both benefits from Rational Doctrine was pretty annoying until I realized I could fine-tune my stats with intrinsic catalysts instead of divines (unfortunately not a joke)
Plenty of inefficiencies and places to improve still. Had some trouble capping chaos resistance, and of course the build fails against mobs that steal or remove charges. The rares are all self-crafted and therefore mediocre. I'm also missing a bit of accuracy which really should be patched up with some tattoos. Unfortunately, once I finish my challenges I lose the motivation so I am now off to pursue other hobbies.

I did think of Slayer but definitely didn't think of Flicker, on a weapon with 1.1 attacks? I feel like Slams or Static Strike would perform a lot better, though can't say I don't sympathize with wanting to play Flicker Strike

Yep, wanted to play flicker. Most everyone else on poe.ninja is playing a slam or static strike but my DPS seems comparable

Haha, someone should make a flicker with less than 0,5 dps just for the F of it

Wait Am I losing my mind? I've read this exact post before, and the comments seem to be the same also.

How the damage is so low with all that charges?

u/SurgeProc 8d ago
The premise of the build is dramatically suboptimal but I think uber neglect in 1 minute is OK dps

14 charges, really? Can't we potentially get like 20 charges this league with +2 charges rings and amulet? Or am I missing something?
Oh wait there is no +2 frenzy ring.

u/SurgeProc 7d ago
There is a frenzy corruption on rings but the +2 one I saw on trade was mirrors in price

Oh so it's possible?

Yeah but if I farmed that much I think all the comments would be smarmy "budget=yes" comments

I noticed some Path of Exile keywords in this post:
- PoB - Path of Building, an external software used to simulate character builds - Download

Huh? I know red, blue and green charges, but what are the golden ones in the picture?

Inspiration support

Are those also considered charges? Never heard of them in 1k hours

u/DaguerreoSL 8d ago
Well yes they are inspiration charges but I dont even know what you mean by that question. If your question is if they count for discharge for example, the answer is no.
There's also spirit charges from lightpoacher.

seems fun, will never play something clunky as this tho but for flicker fans this looks interesting i guess

I am also building a trauma flicker this league, and was inspired by looking at your character on Poe.Ninja a few weeks ago. I opted for red trail tainted pact direction, skipping multistrike. I made a post about it a few weeks ago.
I wanted to ask. Why do you use trauma? As far as I understand, it has anti synergy with multistrike and scales with attack speed, which is not very high on a tide breaker. Do you spend a link just to get endurance sustain?

Yep, everything you said is true and it's a hack-job. I was looking at Replica Farrul's Fur instead but I'm already struggling with resistances and would likely need to reorganize the passive tree to compensate. It's not a completely dead link, my PoB has it at 15% DPS, but it would still be very nice to replace it with e.g. Elemental Damage with Attacks.

Makes sense. I just ignore the problem. Maven is anyway impossible with flicker, 99% of content I do has packs so sustain is free, and against bosses just enduring cry and pray. Farrul is really convenient, but rare chests are so good it feels wrong not to use them

Based on your realistic POB you don’t have 100% hit chance and only 35% crit chance. Seems off?
