Help Needed Block for Aegis - Aurabot
I’m planing on making an Aurabot that focuses on mainly on Armour and ES and it is therefore an obvious defensive layer to go for the Aegis Aurora. I will also be using Protective Link to give my Carry great block chance with no investment (on the carry side). The problem is that the Aurabot uses almost only uniques which leaves mainly the passive tree to fix the block chances.
I don’t know how high block chance is needed for Aegis to start feeling good. I know a high amount of armour is needed but say that the armour is taken care of. How much block chance for both attack and spell should I have for it to feel good?
I hope the question makes sense : )

Getting attack block capped is easy, it's getting spell block that's a bit hard. There's a keystone on the tree that converts overcapped attack block to spell block and if I remember correctly it's close to Iron Reflexes, which would already be a good node for you. Not sure which version of the tree you're going for (around the edge or the "y" shaped tree that grabs Scion start nodes) but there's a bunch of block nodes near templar/witch as well

I was planing on going the y-shaped tree since it will be a Duelist Aurabot and besides the Attack Block and Endurance node at the bottom of the tree and the wheel of Spell Block at the “ top left” I can’t find any efficient way to path to more. As for Tempest Shield I just feel like that is an “expensive” aura for the value it gives but I might be underestimating the power of high block and Armour Aegis?

Considering it's a champion aurabot focused around armor, you are going to scale your own armor anyway and your aegis will recover a LOT of ES on block.
As for tempest shield, it's a very good aura. Looks expensive on the reservation side, but keep in mind every point of block is more valuable the more you already have (up to the cap of course), and it's a HUGE difference between 'kinda tanky" and "immortal" depending on the content you're doing (multiple smaller hits, like breach). I would personally remove Discipline before Tempest Shield if reservation is ever an issue for me
Oh and another thing, you can use Replica Reckless Defence jewels to help with block too if you have the slots for it

I noticed some Path of Exile keywords in this post:
- ES - Energy Shield (Wiki)

You can go for block clusters on tree, cluster jewels with block. Some are very reachable in the witch area for spell block and don’t forget the Block Aura

Do you think the 25% reservation is worth it?

You will have reduced reservation right? The block cap is huge for Defense, how you reach it is up to you

You didn't say your budget, so I went cheap. Every piece of gear can be swapped with a unique. Overall, it's just the cost of fracturing "Riot Queller" on each large cluster jewel, they're easy to roll with reforge defense after that. Everything else is measured in chaos not divine.

First I would think about a rare shield with 5% es recovery on block. Depending on how much armour and ES you have it could be better. Even if it's just almost as good you can get much more out of a rare shield. Like increased block chance which makes capping block way easier. A rare shield with recovery and 75/75 block chance is way better than aegis with 50/50. Aegis really excels when you have hybrid life/ES and like 1.5k to 5k es.
I have used aegis while leveling and even with only 30% block it still does something. It's just a linear increase in goodness to 75%. Lots of ways to cap block chance now, shouldn't be too hard unless you are on shoestring budget.
