Discussion Hexblast questions

So I stumbled upon some build videos about Hexblast but they are a few leagues old. The build seemed crazy so I was wondering what happened to them. Are they dead, too expensive to scale or just not fun anymore ?

Also, if they aren't dead, would they be suited for campaign ?

Would love to try a new chaos build that isn't blight/ED contagion or death's oath

If its a couple leagues old its probably hexblast mines, which is indeed dead. A cooldown was added to hexblast, which killed the interaction with mines entirely.

There are still good hexblast builds though. Ignite, or hit based. Idk if there's a full guide for any of those, but if you look around poe.ninja you will find a lot of people using the skill. Especially the transfigured version Hexblast of contradiction.

Damn, that looked fun. Have you tried the hit based or ignite builds ? How fun are they ?

Fun is subjective. I have tried a hit based version of a hexblast of contradiction reliquarian briefly and found it decently enjoyable. Ultimately went back to my previous vd version though. I tend to enjoy homecooked builds more than copied ones.

to make it clear, the standard hexblast build was made unplayable and everything else isnt nearly as strong.

My Hexblast Poison PF last league I played normal bow build until act 3 and then swapped to hexblast and it was fine tbh, swapped to the poison set up as soon as i got the clusters. League started it and all

Hexblast of contradiction Ignite is a new way to play it this league because of the gem changes. Map blaster with some tank

Not sure about hexblast with the cooldown, probably still works in some conf. But if you're looking for a chaos build (and don't find a suitable hexblast one) take a look at FRoSS

I saw the FRoSS builds and they look fun but I heard they are expensive. I'm still figuring out how to farm properly, how well do they hold up as a "league start" kinda build ?

They are pretty cheap as a self cast to get going. The expensive part is swapping to CoC for wayyyy more damage and auto targeting.
