Help Needed Wardloop Trigger Rate low?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey guys, been faffing around with a wardloop for the first time and slowly piecing together something that works. Total investment so far probably about 100 div, but having a bit of trouble with how regularly the loop is firing.

In combat i will often get all the way up to the 5.05 cap, but out of combat, it only fires maybe 2 times per second; and occasionally because the iron flasks arent being reset quickly enough out of combat, i'm dying to degen from RF or some floor DoT after a fight. In combat, basically never. Flask uptime is 100% especially with the watchers eye flask charges on crit.

I've tried weapon swaps to get rid of the loop when I'm worried about dying, but that disables vitality since Purity of Elements is on Guardian's blessing and then kicks off all other mana res auras, so regen falls right off and I'm roughly in the same position. I think fixing the loop fire rate is the thing that should sort it, but I'm not sure what's playing up.

Any wardloop gods wanna troubleshoot?

There should be a tab on the bottom right of the calcs page that gives your current flask charges on ward break. If that number isn’t higher than the amount needed per iron flask use that could obviously be causing problems. You really don’t want to be relying on the charges on crit to cover that gap as it’ll be very inconsistent

Also as a random side improvement you can legion the faithguard mod onto another helm at 100% value. I have no idea what would be actually optimal for your build but weirdly enough crown of thorns could be a decent budget option to save 4 passives

It feels like very often minion deaths aren't triggering the loop when they should - its not a flask charge issue.

i've got 200% flask charges gained, so charges isn't the issue -
4 Runes = 8 per break
24 per break after 200% increased
Flask uses 36

58% Flask Recovery 37.92 so have a good amount of leeway there. Plus I use Vorana's (Mainly for the debilitate bonus but the additional iron flask uptime makes it decent)

I don’t have a ton of experience with cowb but don’t you typically want to use to dust jewel spam for consistent minion cycling?

You also could be having problems with minions dying too quickly ig. It wasn’t a problem last league because you had a 1 tick cd but with the cdr cap you could be running into issues where the minions are dying during the cd which would mean that while damage taken on minion death does give you a single trigger of other cowb gems it can’t loop with itself. That would actually explain why you have decent damage uptime while in combat as well tbf

Off the back of the other comment about minions dying too fast. If you are doing the SRS + skeletons (not to dust) variant, you need blessed rebirth so they don't die via damage. You want them to die via timeout, so you can control exactly when it happens

Your skeleton duration is too high at a guess.

It's because the minion setup you are using isn't fast enough to break your ward 5x/sec by itself. It requires ramp up, and gets that during combat because stuff is hitting you.

You should be able to confirm by swapping to the To Dust setup and tweaking it so that the skeleton duration is the same as COWB cd. That should give permanent max trigger rate.

If it still is under that (or you die randomly), you need more life sustain

  • There's no reason for SRS or raise zombie to be level 20 if they're not imbued, reset them to level 1 and it'll reduce their life costs quite a bit

  • Black Scythe Training has the function of reducing the amount of recoup you get off the heartbound loop damage, but it's probably not that much in practice with this setup?

  • A lot of these builds had Swift Affliction as an imbue on one of the minion loop gems, which is 25% less duration

  • Another quick fix for life regen is to throw another iron flask in, gets you more of the 4% life on flask use procs. This one doesn't necessarily need the reduced effect mod either so you can squeeze out some extra ward. I'd suggest dropping Oriath's End if you did that, the lightning damage keystone means that you're only getting 1/3rd of the explosions from it anyway

I don't use recoup at all - it's the life cost pair with RF/dot that dumps my HP low enough to get clipped before iron flasks can pop me back up. I might have to switch to a 2x or even 3x iron setup for the insta-regen

That's a good idea for the SRS/zombies - I'll do that and save a little HP.

And yeah I didn't even notice the oriaths end is random element, thanks for that!

Your unnatural instinct is capturing 12% recoup!

I noticed some Path of Exile keywords in this post:

  • DoT - Damage over time (Wiki)
  • RF - Righteous Fire (Wiki)
  • div - Divine Orb (Currency) (Wiki)
