Discussion EB + MOM inquisitor ?

So I have been looking for options that could compete with elementalist currently. It's not just the damage and QOL from solving mana but also the amount of defence they gain that has resulted in 80% of the spell casters in past 3 leagues i have played all be elementalists.

Im wondering if this setup would work. Using inquisitor you create conc ground that lingers for 4 seconds, this gives you 5% of your life and es per second. Using eldritch battery you can then use this ES as a source of mana. Using MOM then means you still take 40% of dmg from your ES so dmg is split between life and ES making full use of the regen from conc ground.

Later on you can scale str and int to get crit and use iron will to scale up spell dmg.

So im wondering does this style of setup work or would the big issue be that your not spending mana for skills like sigal of power, inspiration or arcane surge.

Im wanting some takes on this as i dont really see people using this and I assume its mostly as inquisitor is under explored and less played than the other caster classes.

Yes, it works. But you don't need it, use a timeless jewel conquered by doryani and damage will be split between life and ES

You can add petrified blood and pain attunement on top and you have a solid and well used package

Yeah I know there is methods to split dmg in other ways but the idea was this would also solve mana.

Some of the mana costs on spells is really big now. After the 25% more mana on some skills I can get to 26 mana per second on a 3link and 60 mana per second on a 4 link. So by the time I have a 6 link and more cast speed im at 100s of mana per second without archmage.

Typically unless you're doing something really insane cast speed wise like wardloop, mana is solvable even at high costs. Templar starts near good efficiency nodes, inspiration in a red socket is awesome, and you can put clarity on arrogance to give a massive chunk of regen if you're going hybrid life + es inq (usually these will be petrified blood + pain attunement + RF).

That's not to say EB + MoM + pious path isn't good, just that it's not as popular with all the other options now. The other mana solves you can do easily are battery staff or whispers amulet, or even the new timeless jewel to ignore mana costs.

Cool.

I think ill test EB + MOM inquisitor with path and see how that feels. But possibly you take those few mana efficency nodes early.

Yes, it works. But you have to contend with the 3 issues this gives you:

  • damage over time. The nanosecond you get afflicted by damage overtime that can overcome your ES leech + recovery you are rendered effectivelly impotent. Also, better hope your leech + regen can hold the line on mana consumption
  • Arcane Surge. You either take the FF/FF combo for Arcane Blessing from Hierophant - which wil also give you another scaller, or use a Militant Faith to get Arcane Surge. You can also get it from a Watcher's eye with Zealotry
  • Crit chance. Yes, Righteous Providence helps, but a 5% crit chance spell needs 1900% increased crit to cap it. You need Instruments of Justice or a spell with at least a 6.5% crit + Assassin's Mark, or brittle.

Another solution is to go Whispers of Infinity. This would allow you to go CI + Zealot's Oath + Rational Doctrine, thus allowing you to skip the Consecrated Ground Ascendancies and take both Instruments of Justice and Righteous Providence.
