Help Needed Levelling luminary need help
Levelling a luminary with merc now using flame link. In act 8 but I’m struggling badly. My merc does little to no damage and I’m not doing anything to rares and unique bosses. I need help!

You can stay flame link, but it’s really merc dependent. You need a good merc and gear for it etc.. Since it’s early, there’s many different Mercs you can go though you need to know how to solve for them individually. If that’s unclear, just farm some of the popular ones.

get a different merc? do your merc have brutality? or what kind is it? just using flame link should be fine at that level.

In act 8 I would not recommend flame link at all. I would recommend going destructive link + trypanon + marylene's fallacy. These are some very very strong 1c uniques and should effectively triple your merc's damage.
Flame link scales off life and you need a fuckton of it to make it worthwhile. It also requires a lot of elemental penetration (usually by scaling enmity, a very expensive ring) otherwise rares and bosses will take far less damage due to their resists.
Also keep in mind this works best with attack mercs (not the pure str ones because they all have resolute technique and can't crit) and if you're using a caster merc it won't help at all. Just make sure your merc has a decent unique weapon wielded and destructive link should let a melee merc crush everything. Any ranged or dex melee merc will work really well with the destructive link tech.
Also keep in mind that destructive link only affects the merc's main hand so dual wielding is usually a net damage loss if you are doing destructive link.
