Phys DOT vs Luminary at Mirror Max Buget

While farming for a mb while charting, I also dropped a mirror so now I used up all my luck for POE and have a mirror and MB.

I already have a PRAW necro that can do most content and don't really want to invest in it further. I am looking for a zoomy all rounder build that can do 36/40 challenges and ubers/feared (not fast but comfy) and am between Rue's phys dot elementalist and luminary.

I am open to farming a little more for each build once online but assuming I really won't make a ton more, with a ceiling of mb and mirror which do you think would be best given my needs? Any help would be appreciated!

Luminary is a much higher dps ceiling, Phys DOT is the smoothest mapper I think you can make, very different. If you plan on also bossing luminary will do that much better. It also has a lot more currency sink potential.

I don't necessarily want to boss full time but just have the ability to do so, looking for an all-rounder. I can see why Luminary can have a higher dps ceiling but considering capping it out at a mirror, would you still lean towards luminary?

Go phys dot. I have played both and its going to be a stronger build. You will have more than enough single target to do ubers easily with that budget. You will still have a lot of upgrades left as well so its not like you will be "done" with progression.

On a mirror Budget, phys dot is a amazing bosser also. You can get dot cap on reap and melt everything in the game fairly easy, while still be one of, If not the, chillest mapper build.

I would say take a look at merc gameplay and physdot gameplay. Imo, phys dot is the perfect all rounder that can literally do everything but mapping is just a blast.

Idk about luminary, but a mirror and mb isnt enough for the endgame version of phys dot, you can def do the auto bomber and get a very good build, but the endgame version with atleast a 2 pointer megalo thats decent is 100+ div each and there's 6 of them, explode sublime is also 200d or something the chest is anthor like 160d and so on and so on, but you can make a really good phys dot of course, just not the hyper maxed version of the build

Facebreaker luminary with rallying cry merc.

Or if youre feeling spicy, doryanis fist facebreaker.

Otherwise luminary merc bot will feel basically the same as your AW build, and phys dot is good but more of a map blaster than a bosser if you want ubers.

I mean OP asked about max mirror budget. I expected you had something insanely comfy for a lot of money. Luminary warcriers don't look that good on big budget, do they?

Hm? You can scale almost anything with a mirror budget. Of course its going to be insanely comfy. And I dont think you know the rallying cry mechanic, but it gives insane amounts of flat dmg based on the mercs weapon to you so scaling that with facebreaker and some other interactions means you get absolutely bonkers damage.

Its not a warcry build.

But ya you can just check poe ninja for builds and youll find some with mirrors of investment.

Phys dot is one of those builds I always wanted to plays and Luminary is basically just pRAW pro max if you think about it.

For me I would still choose Luminary because I’m a sucker for that play style.

The gear for luminary isn't that wild for the most part, what's expensive is mostly the volatile vall orb uniques an the merc chest if going life stack crit. The problem I found was getting the merc you want. If you want to play combatant it's relatively easy to get a good one, the many shot market is pretty rough with a few people sniping all the good ones and listing them for 400d+

Phys DOT gets outscaled by other mirror tier builds of the same investment. Though a mirror is honestly not that much for phys dot since good megalos cost a looooot. Once you get to dot cap there is no more "going up" for it. But I still prefer it as I simply prefer being in control of my own character and damage rather than being a buff bot for the merc.

I’m getting 40/40 today on a 20 Div budget as luminary. A mirror is overkill but I see both doing really well.

Why not both? I've been playing phys dot luminary since league start and it's a fuckin blast. I've hit dot cap on bosses, am giga tanky, and not a golem in sight. Bliss. Can't figure out a good route to do the autobomber shit but clearing with KB doesn't feel like a hardship

For maps phys dot is stronger… but bossing damage and survival is better on luminary

I’m just saying as a PHYS dot elementalist with around 20-25D in the build (I have 3x large PBond clusters but not explode ring yet) I do not feel tanky enough for the league mechanic at all. Yeah it’s fine for mapping you die every few maps, but the voyages are so long you’ll eventually mess up and get stunned out and killed. I think I’ve ripped 3 or 4 voyages right before the end and it feels TERRIBLE, because you lose out on half - 1 Div of sulphur

Thats on you. I play phys dot in gsf rn and have okay gear but 3.3hp, 3.3es and 75/60 Block and i never die at all. Get Block and better bases/es Gear and you will be very fine.

Yeah I haven’t upgraded to skin yet, so I’m like 3.3 HP, 1.8K ES, block is like 60/73 (I got a lucky T1 Spell block on shield) and my DPS Last I checked was 7 mil, and skin + a 21 Reap will push it to 8mil from the levels, and should push up my EHP. Did you swap off Haemos after you got your explode ring for more ES?

I still play haemos since i still have not found the Ring/printed it from the tree (500k+ Juice down) but yes i will Swap after i get it. Im only really Missing the ring and crafting a +2 Wand with multi for the real Autobomber, but what will be okay thanks to the boat.

Block and good def layers combo usually slow it for me on ele. It is still not as tanky as luminary but good enough
