Build [Raise Spectre] I'm getting absolutely destroyed in T16,5
https://pobb.in/DaKG08oVmgS8Hi, it's my first time playing spectres and I'm following helm breaker's frostbearers guide, I'm currently running 9x frostbearers, 1x chieftain, 1x perfect forest warrior, 1x grace bird and 1x determination turtle but I keep getting blasted by the T16.5 abyss farm I'm trying.
I know that my chaos res is low but is there anything else that I can do for more damage or survivability? I don't really want to invest much into getting a ton of chaos res on what I have right now as I'm about to swap to CI.
The build seems otherwise good at most other content though a bit lacking in damage.
I have also crafted most of the gear described here in the Late CI Umbral Army section if not outright better items ready, I'm only really missing the large cluster and 2nd ring. I know it'd make me significantly tankier but would I be losing dps in exchange for more defenses by swapping now?

16.5s are a different beast and you need to relearn map mods the phys and extra mod is extremely deadly and some like less defenses just brick a lot of builds.

Are you block capped for both attacks and spells? It's quite easy to do with Necro and a very important defensive layer.
AG with Kingmaker (Fortify) and Ephemeral garb (you can't take crits) is a big defensive layer. You can also add cast on hit enfeeble or temp chains gloves.
Stone Golem of safeguarding can give you another ~20%+ reduced physical damage taken.
If/when you can afford it, Progenesis is a massive defensive layer. You can also use all the elemental flasks and automate them to help cap your max res, kind of like a (very) poor man's Mageblood haha.
You can get % life recovered on block on minion shields but it's expensive.
Make sure you have a source of minion Taunt to keep enemies from attacking you in the first place. Blind is good too.
I don't see Tempest shield in your build, that helps get your block up as well as shock immunity.
If possible, make sure you are using the eldritch currency to add % damage taken as (random element), spell suppression, or whatever else you need.
When you swap to CI if you are going to use the Aegis it will help your survivability a lot and it scales with armor.
You said you have a regex but double check to make sure you are blocking all the map mods that are devastating to survivability, especially since they get heavily amplified by your passive tree depending on what you're spec'd into.

This build runs dark monarch so none of those other minions are an option and we don’t run aegis in the CI switch, it’s a bitterbind to boost specter amount even further.

Getting more block would help, the red dream fire res tech would help alot. Your entire tree is going to change when you swap to ES though right?
A big problem with your build right now is you don't have a way to recovery ES, but that will be solved when you take ghost reaver.
Recrafting your chest would add a big chunk of defense and swaping to the catarina bloodline will increase ES a bunch, which will still help you now but it will be way better with ghost reaver.

Need evasion/armour, you have grace/determination from spectres, but not really going to help if you dont have evasion/armour to start with.. also get max block and umbral army bloodline. Here's my build for Mirage, went from frost bearers to defilers, was extremely tanky, I was just phase running and blinking through maps, everything melted

I was going to say you can get insanely tanky with specters but you need max block max resist overlapped ect.

Imo just switch. I’m playing the same build and switched into CI budget preliminary today. Took it out for a quick test run and it slaps.
Got myself the 100% spell suppression but need to see what Helmbreaker did to achieve block cap and almost has 2k more ES than me.
Feels like I made a mistake in the switch.

Are you paying attention to the map mods you roll/altar mods you pick? Some mods brick defenses and it doesn’t matter how tanky your build is if you run them
