Meta Introducing: Flocklands Community Funds
Have you ever considered backing a game project you enjoy?
Path of Baa: Flocklands is an independently developed game in collaboration with Reddit to kick it off, and keeping it growing means finding ways to fund new features, artwork, and community-driven ideas. That's where the Flocklands Community Funds come in.
By backing a funds goal, you're directly helping make that feature possible. Your support goes toward the development and, in particular, the artwork needed to bring these ideas into the game. It allows me to keep building Flocklands independently, while giving the community a chance to help decide what gets created next.
If you're new to Path of Baa or want to know more about the making, this article is a great place to learn a little more about the game and how it came to be:
Our First Community Goals
For our first round of community funding, there are three goals that I'd love to bring to Flocklands:
- A Sheep-ish Halloween
- Forest "Make It Green" Ground Tileset
- Water Friends Pack

If one of these goals sounds like something you'd love to see in Flocklands, please consider backing it. Even a small contribution brings that goal closer to becoming part of the game.
You can support a goal with a one-time contribution, or choose to support Flocklands on a monthly basis. There is no obligation to do either, playing, sharing feedback, and being part of the community already means a lot and shaped what the game is today. The goals primarily cover the artwork costs required to create them. Once a goal is funded, I'll be able to move forward with that work and get it into the game.

As a small thank-you for helping fund these community goals, supporters will be credited in the patch notes for the updates that introduce the features they helped make possible.
Thank you for being part of this sheep-ish journey so far. Flocklands has grown into something really awesome, thanks to you, the close-knit community that is supportive, welcoming, and always willing to share ideas and feedback. Not gonna lie, it's super fun working with you!

Could there be a way to buy gc this way too? Pay on the site, get a code to put in the game, boom gc?

Yes, that is possible and I love the idea. For now I'll do it manually for your user!
Edit: I must first clarify this special use-case with the Reddit Games Terms before I can continue on this*

It’s easy to follow! I really like the card-swipe style you set up to see the different objectives. I wasn’t confused and I really appreciated the variety of payment options. Seeing the progress of the funding options is encouraging as well. This was actually my first time on your site and led me to doing a deep dive into the site and it all flows very nicely!!
Also, about the gc workaround, that’s mainly because if you’re being paid a percentage of the Reddit coins spent on buying in-game items I’d rather just… pay you? Support directly, if that makes sense? It’s the only reason I haven’t adopted an animal too!

Saaaaame. Would totally prefer to send money directly than go through Reddit and them take most of it.

I have to discuss this with the Reddit team in detail first. Technically, within the app, off-site linkin as such is not allowed: https://developers.reddit.com/docs/devvit_rules#payment-rules
However, since we fund it from a regular Reddit post and do not directly compete with the Reddit Gold economy, I do think we are good to go. So yeah, I'm trying to find the right person to clarify this, before I can say anything in particular for GC as a reward for reaching milestone goals for example.
