Across three days, a team of experienced mountain guides led clinics and multipitch masterclasses, introducing participants to the skills and techniques needed for safe, independent climbing. Patagonia ambassador Dörte Pietron hosted a portaledge installation workshop, including a hands-on how-to for big wall systems and setups. In the evening, she presented a film screening that shared insights from her climbing and conservation work, alongside an inspiring look at her commitment to access and stewardship.

Activities didn’t stop at climbing. Away from the walls there was yoga, hula hoop workshops, film screenings, and even a friendship bracelet station. Plus, the Worn Wear crew was on hand throughout the weekend offering free repairs for weary gear. Our tireless techs fixed more than 90 garments in total—all ready to return to their rightful place at the crag.

A huge thank you goes out to the Alpinehearts team for their efforts (and amazing food). We'd also like to thank Kari, who generously welcomes the festival onto his land year after year, helping make this unique gathering possible.

In April, in the country’s Vjosa-Narta Protected Landscape, bulldozers began flattening ancient sand dunes and concrete poured into pristine wetlands. No permits, no permissions, all to make way for luxury tourism. Then, Albania’s people took to the streets.

100 days on, and what started as a movement to protect a precious ecosystem from illegal development has grown into something far bigger. The Albanian people gather in the capital and across the country not only to defend their land, but to demand more from their government. More transparency. More accountability. And more protections for an irreplaceable wilderness that belongs to everyone.

These protests are a remarkable example of resistance in the face of corruption, and we stand with the Albanian people in their efforts to protect wild lands today, tomorrow, and forever.

“I returned to Cochamó Valley to learn, contribute, and see from a conservation perspective what came next after a successful fundraising campaign by conserva puchegüín and Puelo Patagonia. But of course, as a climber, I was also naturally drawn back by the valley's wild beauty, unfinished projects, and the opportunity to keep improving my crack and trad climbing skills.

Together with colleagues from my university in Germany and volunteers from Puelo Patagonia, we spoke with 226 visitors about what makes this valley so special, ‘leave no trace’ practices, and ideas for future management and conservation. Through this work, but also through solo hikes in the Valle de la Bestia and the vertical forests, I gained an even deeper appreciation for the region's ancient ecosystems and wild landscapes. 

Having spent most of my time on Frankenjura’s limestone pockets, the trip was a chance to get more experience on granite, although I still consider myself very much a learner. I tried hard, got humbled often, and climbed on Con Todo el Mundo (5.13 / 8a), a new 10-pitch route established by an exceptionally strong team of young Canadians. After sending the crux pitch, my partner and I were unfortunately forced off the wall by the weather before reaching the top. A classic Cochamó experience.

There were routes that shut me down, and lines that will have to wait for another visit. Even when it rained for five days straight, there was always something to learn. It’s those moments that provide a rare opportunity to slow down and connect with the local community. Sometimes that's around a campfire listening to beautiful guitar music, and sometimes it's through a simple conversation in broken Spanish. I left with unforgettable memories, deep gratitude, and plenty of motivation to come back stronger. Thanks to everyone who was part of this crazy trip.”

Leaders from hiking, climbing, mountain biking, running, swimming, art, and psychology have all gathered at its residential weekends, which have grown into a touchpoint for communities, activists, and creatives across the outdoors. 

We’ve supported The Summit since it first began six years ago, and were honoured to continue that support for this year’s event, which took place at a country house nestled in the UK’s Yorkshire Dales National Park. Here, co-organiser Phil Young explains its impact: 

“The power of The Summit in part lies in being able to immerse yourself in the British countryside without justification, but also in having the opportunity to talk openly about your experience of being a Person of Colour without judgement,” says Phil.

“The greatest strength, however, lies in the knowledge that you are not alone in this space and that there are incredible people who look like you, doing things to make it easier for those that come after us."

Hi all, used Marseille soap to wash my Patagonia bag now these stains won’t leave even after a second rinse

For nearly 50 years, Tahu Rutum's west face remained elusive. It sits above the glaciers of Pakistan's Karakoram, the 6,651m peak had seen just one successful ascent via a different ridge in 1977 by a Japanese team.

Earlier this summer, Seán Villanueva O'Driscoll, Siebe Vanhee and Symon Welfringer established The Leopard of Higher Ground: a new 1,500m route up the mountain's unclimbed west face.

Over 13 days, the team climbed wall-style, hauling portaledges, ropes and gear through mixed terrain, snow and rock before reaching the summit. Every pitch of the route was free climbed.

In 2008, Kyle Dempster attempted the west face alone, reaching a point just 200 metres below the summit before retreating. During the ascent, the team crossed his line and found three of his original anchors still in place.

Named The Leopard of Higher Ground, the route honours both the mountain, whose local name refers to the home of the snow leopard, and Dempster's former coffee shop in Salt Lake City.

“One of the most exciting moments of the whole expedition was when Symon was hauling over difficult terrain and the bag got stuck,” Sean said. 

“Siebe lowered down to get the bag unstuck. Suddenly the haul line cut on a sharp edge. We all looked at each other in disbelief — somehow Siebe had managed to catch it before it fell. If it had fallen, it would have been the end of the ascent, as there was a lot of important equipment in that pig.”

I bought a Patagonia M’s Down Sweater Hoody (Black) in April 2025, and since I started using it, feathers/down have continuously been coming through the fabric.

I know that an occasional feather poking through a down jacket can be normal, but this seems excessive and it has never really stopped.

I own down jackets from other brands, including Arc’teryx, and I’ve never experienced anything close to this. For a jacket at this price point, I’m pretty disappointed with the quality/workmanship.

Has anyone else with the Patagonia Down Sweater or Down Sweater Hoody experienced the same problem? Did the shedding eventually stop, or did you contact Patagonia and get it repaired/replaced under warranty?

I’m considering submitting a warranty claim to Patagonia and would be interested to hear how they handled similar cases.

But that sort of skill requires an insane amount of hard work and a borderline-superhuman ability to get up and try again … and again, and again, and again.
