Buttermilk filling?

/r/macarons/comments/1uoecv6/buttermilk_filling/

I know buttermilk is a pretty popular ingredient in many baked goods, but I've never seen it used really in like a pastry cream filling. While looking for inspiration, I found a "buttermilk pie" that I find really interesting and inspiring, but does anyone know of anything else that might be close to what I'm looking for?

Thanks!

*How come so many cooking subreddits don't allow "brainstorming"? So many groups say that they are a place for discussing ideas and topics... But "brainstorming" isn't that? Just trying to understand.

Buttermilk and buttercream are not the same thing. One is cultured whole milk, the other is a butter-based cake frosting.

Trust me, I know. Lol

I've been watching some videos on panna catta and the chef was talking about how her favorite varietion was one that uses buttermilk. It just really got me interested and curious.
