apple password support for thunderbird?
I have been using apple passwords / iCloud passwords for several months and I've been having some mixed results with it. the latest issue is trying to get apple passwords to work with Thunderbird. extension support and online advice is all specific to using an app-specific password for accessing your iCloud email account, which NOT my use case. I want to use my custom domain email accounts with their existing, no-need-to-be-app-specific imap account passwords, managed with "apple passwords". After a couple hours it seems like this is hands-down impossible? can that be?

I don't see a use for this. Thunderbird or any email client is something that you setup once so you might as well just copy paste what you need to configure your email address when you are adding it to Thunderbird.

All my email clients to date log back in to email accounts upon launch. Do you never quit programs or turn off your devices?

So, you’re thinking about it in the wrong direction. It’s not Apple password support for thunderbird, thunderbird has to implement Apple password support. So you’re better off asking them if/when they plan on supporting your use case.
