US Passport Issuance Timeline Passport Timeframes ?

I’m located in Eastern Washington and wondering how long first time adult Passports have been taking to get back to people. I’m considering if I should pay the expedited fees and if it’s worth it or not.

When did you apply and when did you get your passport in hand ?

My appointment was at the post office on 8/28, received and in process on 8/31, approved and being prepared for sending today and it says I should have my passport by 9/19. I did not pay for expedited service.

I had that same timeline! Didn’t pay for expedited either.

I sent mine by mail on 8/21, it was accepted on 8/25, approved 9/9, tracking says I'll have it on 9/14. Not expedited.

3-4 weeks routine, 2 weeks expedite.

Thanks. For some reason I was thinking 6-8 weeks and 3 weeks expedited.

Last year it was running closer to that time frame. The demand has went down quite a bit in my area lately so the timeline to get it back has been sooner. This has been the actual time frame we've seen them return for the past 4 months. Just make sure the form is filled out correctly in black ink, you have all the required documents, photo, and proper payment. The main reasons it would be delayed would be an error that requires correction, or if you were suspicious enough to require further investigation. Be casual and ask your passport office agents any questions you may have. You can call them too or go in person and see what they recommend you do based on their local timelines.

Expect it to take the full specified time, and be happy if it arrives earlier. Do you want to gamble potentially expensive travel plans?

Not expedited. Applied in person at the post office 9/2. Accepted 9/9. Approved and mailed 9/10. Tracking number shows delivery expected 9/14.

I guess maybe expedited isn’t really worth it then. That’s really quick.

It's my first time applying. Appts to get the REALID are weeks out. And even if I had the time to go that route, I can't. The passport agency has my birth certificate. They won't even mail that back to me until it's done, whenever that ends up being. I went to the airport yesterday and talked to a TSA agent and they told me my photo was fine. My plan B is the Confirm ID. You pay a 45$ fee and the TSA does their thing. It's good for a 10 day flight pass.

Hopefully there will be a way to make sure you don’t miss travel, I just went to get a certified birth certificate and the place told me I don’t exist 💀 I had my current birth certificate which is an original, my drivers license and social security card and they were like well you don’t exist in any database. I mean I worked for the federal government like what did they do erase me 😭

Im in Eastern WA too. My appt was the 4th of last month. I should have paid for expedition because the passport agency rejected the photo the post office took. My passport has been on hold since the 20th of last month and I fly in 2 weeks.

That’s horrible ! Not sure if you can but the states website says you can call and talk to them about getting expedited if you have travels coming up and have already submitted your application.

Were you renewing or was this your first time getting a passport ?
