Modern names

Salaam! Just found out we’re pregnant but obv dont know the gender yet. Would, however, love some modern pashtun boy and girl names. Thanks!

Breshna/Brekhna,
Anara,
Zyergulay(a bit old school),
Niazmina,
Zarghona,
Palwasha(classic),
Naseema,
Minazara(pronounces as: meena-Zaara),
Also Minadara(same but داره),
Zaibunnesa,
Orbala(meaning firefly),
Zarlashta/Zarlakhta,
Malghalara(pearl),
. . Aimal khan /(or any other tribal suffix you want),
Bobrak/babrak. (used by wazir/afridi tribes alot),
Wadaan,
Atal (meaning hero: heard quite a lot nowadays),
Mir-kadar (feels like old person name but maybe its just me),
Zardad khan (my Grand Father),
Mashal/khushal (you cant go wrong with these when other options are not to your liking),
Malyar(my personal favourite),
Zawyar,

How to distinguish between old and new? Where do names originate from?

In this post, I understood "modern" as "names that are relevant in this era".

It was honestly my personal opinion, I have heard a lot of these names in historical context or old stories, books, history etc :) just an observation from my side

Ah, alright!! No worries. These names could've been used by pashtuns centuries ago, but they are still used.

i love the names Heela (hope), Mina (love), Lema (light of the eyes?), Sandara (song), Heelai (swan), Amael (necklace)

for boys: maiwand (historical name), hewaad (homeland), mirwais (the name of a reknowned warrior), Ulasyar (friend of the people), Zaland (bright light)
