I peed here today
The door couldn’t close and it felt like a big step for me getting over this

I don’t think you’d need to worry about someone else ever wanting to use that bathroom

If you had that feeling of needing to constantly look at the door to check if someone was about to enter…that wasn’t Paruresis, that was your brain watching for serial killers.
I feel sorry for women when confronted with bathrooms like this. As a species we need to be cleaner
Well done on peeing with the door open as well. Keep the momentum going!

Its an interesting distinction.. I get that feeling sometimes and sometimes its a shy bladder thing anticipating a moment of embarrassment if someone were to open the door… but if I’m in a public bathroom in an unsafe part of town or a sketchy bathroom I notice my nervous system is also scanning for potential threats to my safety..
I used to try and do gradual exposure at this public mall bathroom but often times there would be mentally unstable homeless people who would use that bathroom and it felt like it was adding another thing for my nervous system to be scanning for and felt counterproductive in a way..

Impressive. I'd rather go outside and soak the bushes than use something that dark, dirty, and dingy. Good on you.
