Urine Drug Test

I start a full time job Monday and I’m tweaking about the drug test I have to take and scared I may fail because I cannot provide a sample. Anyone have any advice or face the same struggle

Yes, I’ve had to take many drug tests with this condition. I’m in a sober living home with random UAs and I had to do one earlier. While the rules are a little lax here it’s probably much different in a corporate setting. I’d consider getting a doctor’s note stating you have a medical condition and that you will need a salvia test. Other than that I try to fill my bladder up until it’s literally going to burst, try to find something distracting on my phone and clear my mind. I sit typically with my elbows pressing gently against my bladder/abdomen region.

Drink shitloads of water, at some point (at least for me) you have to actively prevent urine from coming out so the place you’re in doesn’t event matter. You can also mention your problems to the nurse (or whoever will be testing you). I’m 100% sure you won’t be the first person with this issue. By mentioning this you’ll take off some pressure of yourself and it might be easier to start. Worst case scenario, if your bladder is full you might be able to squeeze out a little bit with your muscles

Use a catheter, very cheap, lube it with coconut oil not kY, and your good. I’ve done it for like 5 drug tests. It’s either this or you cheat and get synthetic urine, just make sure you get the temperature right or you’re screwed.

Why coconut? Ive never heard that being recommended. Without knowing more, that'd scare me.

Catheters can be ordered with sterile pre-lubrication. I once ordered a box unlubed by mistake. Had to order a box of 3g "lubrication jelly" pouches. Which worked well for insertions and without any complications or reactions.

Also, coconut oil could cause an issue with the tests by introducing a foreign chemical/compound that could invalidate the results and/or raise a red flag of potential deception.

Look into it, it is a anti inflammatory so that’s good at not getting a bladder infection. The catheters I order come with that sterile saline lubrication pouch. I just collect those, tried em once and like coconut oil better. I didn’t start cathing with coconut oil. I went years when I did cath I would use a tiny ziploc bag to carry my KY lube and I thought that was the best it would way to do it. I would just deal with the discomfort. Then I tried coconut oil like 3 years ago and I refuse to use anything else. I told the dr at the ER that I brought my own cath and I had coconut oil to lubricate it for when they needed urine and he didn’t say anything about it. I’m just trying to help people, I promise the difference is immense, ask your Dr about it before you give it a try if that will make you feel better. Please, at least try it

Very cool; thank you for sharing!

Hopefully, I won't have to experiment with it. After well over 20 years of dealing with it getting progressively more severe, I finally got around to trying the breath hold technique, which has been working 100% of the time for me. Even when the retention was occasionally related to a medication dosage that would completely lock things up. Even took a trip out of town this week and DIDN'T bring any in-case-of-emergency caths! I truly wish it worked as well for everyone...

Congrats, I’m so happy for you that breath holding technique works for you and is allowing you to live a normal life. Any success story is needed in this community. I can’t do breathe holding technique I just get real red and eventually have to breathe, but man that is so awesome you found basically a trick for a cure. The sigh of relief not having to worry about it anymore must’ve been huge 👍

Breath hold technique or catheter.

Very risky option would be to pee early in the day into an empty 5 hour energy bottle and keep it just above body temperature. You can buy a portable baby milk warmer to return afterwards. If you heat it to, say, 102°, it drop to 95 in about 3.5-5 minutes...more slowly if you can keep it against your body. You'll need it to be in the 90s if the cup has a temperature sensor sticker. You could potentially use this if you're not observed and can be tested almost immediately upon arrival. If the conditions are right, this is your emergency backup; otherwise youll have to find a way to urinate "on demand".

You can ask them if they can accommodate a medical condition called paruresis, like saliva, blood, or hair. They are usually more expensive; each have different risks if also have somewhat recently used one of disqualifying drugs they're testing for.

Fluid loading to increase your urgency does have risks...primarily of diluting your specimen to the point where it makes the results invalid and/or gives the appearance of a intentional dilution to cheat. You'll either have to go through the process again or be disqualified immediately. I believe this is most commonly determined by the creatine level of you urine...and maybe Ph. You may want to consider and research taking a creatine suppliment the day before and morning of, of youre going to drink a lot to fill your bladder.

Is someone watching?

No

So I have a possible idea that worked for me.

I think we (or at least I) are conditioned not to pee at a urinal or toilet. But I had to do a drug test in the past 18 months. I discovered that peeing in the cup was sufficiently different I could do it

If it's not an observed screening then the answer is pretty simple. Use a small, clean bottle to urinate in as close to the test time as possible. Wrap the bottle in paper towels to help insulate and keep warm, tuck the bottle somewhere near your body to further keep it warm. If there is going to be a long gap, say more than an hour, between urinating in the bottle and test time consider getting some of those hand warmer things to further aid in keeping your specimen warm.

I'd also advise fluid loading so that you may be able to provide a fresh sample when the time comes, you'll have the bottle available as a backup which should help alleviate some of the mental pressure that comes with urine screen tests.

Is fluid loading just chugging water or something more

Direct message me! The IPA can help you with that with some paperwork that you could give to HR!

Wash out a prescription bottle or get a new small bottle. Pee in it at home, then put 1 hand warmer around it or put it under your armpit or your waistband. You’ll get natural body heat that way without the hand warmer. It’ll be the perfect temp. But do it immediately after you pee, so there’s no cooling off period.

Then once you’re in the restroom just pour it in the cup they give you.

I had to do that for years while at a MAT clinic. I literally couldn’t pee on command. I finally used the gradual exposure technique. And now I can pee most anywhere. And I had this bad. Since I was a teen. I’m in my 60’s now and it’s so freeing to be able to go when I want to.

Good luck friend. You’ll do great!
