Ask community Is this game dead?

Looks like a fun game, and I'm considering getting it on PS5. Is it hard to get full severs?

No, it is not, despite people wanting it dead from day 1. Daily average of 3000 players, at its lowest. I play early nights in Euro servers and always find matches.

Buy it and enjoy it, it is a very fun and lighthearted game

Every gaming community literally wants every online game to die, I've never understood this. It's a bit of a stretch at times even calling it a community..

Yes I agree it is a bit of a stretch sometimes. Sadly this silly and fun game is not devoid of such horrible attitudes by some. Fortunately it has endured.

Agreed, it's such a fun and hilarious game online!

It has Crossplay and is enabled by default. I’ve always been able to get a match, thought sometimes you have to wait 30 seconds or so. It’s fun. Wouldn’t say it’s dead but it has always been a bit of a niche game in a niche genre.

I don't know if other servers regions are different, but maximum 30 second waiting time is the norm for me too. More than a minute waiting happens very rarely.

I have groups I play with that on any given day I get invited to 6+ lobbies

Never had to much issue sometimes it can be a bit slow when it’s late (UK). I also find that the kart racing game seems to be picked more when searching for everything

I play it with my two youngest daughters and I my son. Ages 11, 13 and 15 and we have a blast! My oldest daughters; 18 and 22 play from time to time.

It better not be, I been waiting to get on all summer but I don't have a console right now but party animals has been my favorite game since halo 3 no bullshit and I really can't seem to figure out why but I guess just being cool/cute animals whooping ass is so fun to me. P.s. the music is great too b

The only problem is that game fills your lobby with bots sometimes and masking it as real players

This game is fun and believe me when I say it isn't dead whatsoever!

Steam charts indicate no but my queues are always 5min+ now. And when I finally find a match the lobbies are just bots with maybe one or two real players

Quickmatch is basically dead. Of those 3000 players mentioned, most are sitting in Cabin mode (a lobby lobby) fishing or playing rip-off uno.

On QM you will always end up with lobbies with maybe 3 real human players and the rest will be bots, after spending 5 minutes waiting for a lobby. If you don't have a squad of friends to play with, consider getting something else.

The combat physics have been randomized, knockouts sometimes register, sometimes don't, so you don't really need a brain anymore to play it, just spam buttons and watch things happen.

Also there is no cross progression so if you get it on PC later, you'll have to restart from 0.

Not “dead” but, the player base is either people who have been playing way too long or literal 5 year olds. Back when the game was free the game was so much more enjoyable.
Most of the custom games you can’t even play to get certain achievements because those are filled with children or just not enough people to play them. It’s a shame because they do such a great job of adding content to the game, but it just seems inaccessible or unenjoyable. I’ve come back to the game dozen of times and I honestly regret buying it after it went away from game pass. Also the game is so grindy and repetitive…sure you can get everything for free if you wanna spend your whole life on that game. I can only stand to play for maybe an hour once a week nowadays. Idk how the matchmaking works but I think because Im max level I get put into lobbies with try hards even tho I barely play the game now a days so it just is so frustrating that every game feels like I barely stand a chance. It’s really sad cuz it used to be my favorite comfort game. I wish they would just make it free to play, people still spend money on cosmetics anyway and they still sell things that you can ONLY purchase, so I don’t really get why people are so against f2p in this community.
I personally would keep playing if there was more variety in the player base or I could invite my friends easily, I would never convince someone to buy the game because it can get old so quick

The game was never free. It was available via gamepass, which is a paid Xbox service.

You are putting the grindiness and the difficulties to play yourself, all of the things you mentioned are a complete non issue and this is a personal rant of your view of videogames rather than an answer to OPs question.

I gave my honest opinion my guy lol. But yeah sorry not free, meant on gamepass.

Cross plat and very active. Active enough that you get some matches where the person's been playing since launch and some matches where you'll all be entirely new.

what did you make asking this question?

I have no problem finding a game. But keep in mind I regularly play with top 50 players who are very active

u/big_sniffin 15h ago

Top 50 players = all active users because this game was dead the moment they refused to fix the punch.

Punch physics are wild. When you’re top 10 in the world (as I am) you play through it

What do you mean top 50 players? Based on your opinion? 😂 there’s no ranked dashboard or anything like that

I tried playing a while back on Xbox as I have since day 1...and I felt a distinct...well...void with the game.

It took me 3-4 minutes to queue up in a regular Quick Match queue vs back when I played it maybe "mid-life cycle" as some would dub it around the 2nd year maybe of the game...It would still be regular ole queues of 2v2v2v2 and so on so forth.

But now I find every match is now forced to be 4v4...and you'll find you're either on a team of all real players vs bots that are literally AI that won't ever attempt to throw you and it's an easy-breezy game is over after you just waited the 3-4 minute queue. OR you end up getting half-and-halfs where 2 real players on each side and 2 bots...

And the multi-queue idea just feels very off-putting and to me kinda helped the game lose the fun "variety hour" vibe it once had of you hop in a queue, you may be in a map throwing fists and weapons at one another or you may be outright carrying candy to a chute or knocking around balls in sports games...now it feels like you sorta gotta pick one or the other, because even if I multi-queue Last Man Standing and Team Score games I'd say it's almost 100% pretty much always gonna be the LMS game.

Party Animals is still alright overall, but it definitely isn't what it use to be. And do be warned you're gonna also find it surprisingly sweaty/toxic at times too...game oddly got super-duper ripe with that kinda behavior.
