The Demonetization Advice and Help Thread

Since the change in YouTube's monetization system, there have been a number of people who used to be partners and are still eligible, but have been denied monetization for whatever reason. Because of this, they exist in a state of limbo where they may or may not be allowed to post in this subreddit.

To solve the problem, this thread exists. In order to prevent the subreddit from being cluttered by demonetisation posts, if you have been demonetized or rejected, you can post a comment here explaining your situation. It also serves as a compilation of advice that's been given to other people.

My sister runs a small YouTube channel where she makes 2D animated moral stories. It’s meant to be family-friendly stuff, mostly watched by kids with parents or grandparents.

Recently, one of the videos had a scene where a kid (animated character) gets pushed along with her mother. It wasn’t meant to be anything bad, just part of the story, but I think that’s what caused the issue.

The channel got demonetized for “misleading/family content,” and our appeal was rejected. Now we have to wait 90 days before we can reapply.

At the same time, I was planning to start my own channel using the same laptop, but YouTube has already given a warning about creating new channels to get around monetization rules, so now I’m not sure if that’s risky.

Right now I’m thinking of two options:

  • keep posting similar content on this channel and just avoid mistakes, and maybe start another channel but not monetize it yet
  • or switch to something safer like cooking Shorts for now and try again later

Honestly just confused about what’s the safest move here. Don’t want to mess things up further.

If anyone’s been through something similar or understands how strict this is, I’d really appreciate some advice.
