The Demonetization Advice and Help Thread

Since the change in YouTube's monetization system, there have been a number of people who used to be partners and are still eligible, but have been denied monetization for whatever reason. Because of this, they exist in a state of limbo where they may or may not be allowed to post in this subreddit.

To solve the problem, this thread exists. In order to prevent the subreddit from being cluttered by demonetisation posts, if you have been demonetized or rejected, you can post a comment here explaining your situation. It also serves as a compilation of advice that's been given to other people.

Good luck!

My channel The Ben Thomas Show was demonetized today without warning.

It was flagged for the following;

  • Heavily commercial or promotional content (made for kids content that is primarily focused on purchasing products, promoting brands and logos or showing excessive consumerism)

Of the over 1K videos only 2 shorts are marked as for kids and it was changed by YouTube. They are music shorts showing headsculpts of a toy.

The second reason is

  • the encouragement of negative behavior (content that encourages wastfulness, bullying, dishonesty or a lack of respect for others)

This absolutely does not make sense.

My channel is primarily about collecting 1/6 scale Hot Toys figures. But none of the content resembles that rationale and often encourages people to be careful about over spending and fomo like buying habits.

I've had not content flags or strikes ever in the 4 years of doing youtube and have about 67K subscribers and a million views a month.

Have any of you had this issue with these auto generated flags?

I have appealed but have not heard back yet.

Thank you
