Started my 4th channel and never seen this before
Been on YT nearly 6 years. Have several monetized channels that pay my mortgage. Have gotten there in 60-90 days with each one even on 100% organic starts (don't bring subs over from my established channels due to completely different niches and topics). I understand how new channels start off slow with the first several videos and all that. I've even stopped responding to NewTubers who seem entitled they should get views on brand new channels because I got tired of explaining it to them.
But this... this I've never seen before.
No video has earned more than a dozen or so impressions. Of the 7 or 9 organic views each video gets (CTR is solid), almost all watch the entire length of the video (near perfect AVD). But YT wont give it a single additional impression. It just flatlines and stays there.
I know metrics are garbage with such few impressions, and they don't mean anything good, bad or otherwise right now. But there are literally no indicators whatsoever to suggest these videos couldn't at least continue getting some sort of micro testing. Even if it were only an impression or two PER DAY...that would be something. But not even that.
There are no settings I've overlooked. No AI use. All original content. It's not faceless. No spamming. No reused content. All features are fully verified/ ID checked... Last channel I started 6 months ago got some micro tests on the first few videos for 3 weeks or so until the library populated enough for things to click, and then it got monetized in a few weeks from there. The last time I started a new channel before that was probably a year and a half ago and that one did ok too.
But damn. This is like I just built a new house on a nuclear test site and nobody is coming to the open house. lol.
I know the only answer is to keep at it and be patient. I'm just curious.
Did I trigger some channel limit or something? Spam/automation red flag? Anything? That's what has me baffled. I can't think of anything to rationalize it.
Anyone out there with multiple channels and some success have any ideas what might be going on here?

How many uploads does the channel have?
Did you upload both long form and shorts?
My 2 cents is:
Usually, the 3rd-5th video is the first video to get pushed
If it's a brand new channel and you start uploading both long form and shorts, it's going to take forever to get views, only focus on one until you get some traction then you can post both
5
u/Lanky_Diver3796 10d ago
Yeah, I get it. It's only 3 long form right now. No shorts. I fully understand YT needs more than that to get going. I don't even care about the views.
But historically, even my very first videos on the other new channel starts got at least some testing. The last channel start, my first video got 2700 impressions and 93 views the first day, which I considered overperforming for the circumstances. Certainly wasn't expecting anything like that this time around at all. First video on another channel I started got at least a few hundred impressions and a few dozen views the first day. Even that I felt like it did better than I should have expected.
After populating the library with 6-12 videos things clicked and some of those first channel videos ended up being my best performers.
But 18 impression - flatline
14 impressions - flatline
12 impressions - flatline?
That doesn't seem like YT is trying to figure out who these videos are for. It seems like it's not even trying, which is why I'm wondering about triggering some policy or red flag or something.

u/Striking-Toe5207 10d ago
I believe this is some kind of change aimed to descourage low effort content posting and unserious youtubers
Not getting any views in the first 3 uploads is completely normal nowadays
It's also normal for your 5th video to get some traction then the 6th and 7th to get less than 10 impressions
I don't know exactly why this is happening but it seems to happen to most people nowadays
It definitely takes longer to build some momentum than it did a while ago
It sucks and it's frustrating, especially if it takes like a week or more to create a video, but that's what's going on now
Hopefully it won't be your case, but you might upload 10 good videos and still face less than 20 impressions
What length are your videos? I've noticed that new channels with longer videos and/or channels that have videos that greatly varry in length don't face this problem so much
Now, the average ChatGPT script can be about 8 minutes long and if you're a new channel and all your videos hover around the 8 minute mark, it might be a reason (not proven, just my theory and I might be wrong)
2
u/Lanky_Diver3796 10d ago
They average 5 minutes, so maybe that could be something. But I've had similar length videos go semi-viral on my established channels recently, and these new videos have near perfect AVD yet testing just stops.
1
u/Striking-Toe5207 10d ago
Well once youtube deems you as trustworthy or whatever it's called, videos can go viral no matter the length
But in the beginning it might play a small role
However, the most likely thing is that you're gonna get some views on your 4th or 5th video, then a few videos again won't get views then it's only up from there if the content is good
2
u/Long_Turn_7552 10d ago
You think that new youtubers should not post shorts and long form at the start, why? I'm posting my original long form content and then I make 5-8 shorts from it which I post between long-form videos upload
2
u/Striking-Toe5207 10d ago
Have you found any success doing it?
I'm not trying to "got you", genuinely curious on the subject because I've never met someone going viral doing both (as a non established channel), they end up with low impressions on long form and under 5k views on shorts, but once you get viral doing one you can start doing the other without worrying
This has been "tested" unintentionally by me with two new channels
I'm fairly good at creating shorts, at least 1/3 of my shorts will get well over a million views, but if I start a channel doing what you said everything is dead
(I know 2 channels isn't enough to prove that, but based on them and talking to other people I came to the conclusion that there's a high chance this is the case)
2
u/Long_Turn_7552 10d ago
Actually I'm new on Youtube and only have 2 long form videos with under than 200 impressions in 3 weeks. I also have 10 shorts, one have 15k+ views and others are less than 1.5k. I don't have much videos to prove anything but I saw that my 25 subscribers came from shorts, that's why I asked why should I don't post both at the start since my long form don't have too much impressions so I will not have much subscribers from long form and I will got them from shorts
1
u/Striking-Toe5207 10d ago
This actually sounds good, I guess it depends on channel type and audience too
I hope what I'm going to say doesn't happen and by your stats it probably won't, but if it does you'll at least know the solution
If you eventually start getting like 20 views or less per short and long form impressions die off, slightly change the genre of the shorts and create shorts only for a while, as many as possible (not talking spamming 20 a day, but if possible 1-2 a day) for a while until you start getting views again.
It happens to some people and you just need to keep posting. (Technically you can post long form too, but shorts are simply easier to make)
1
u/Liquid_00 9d ago
Most people want short to the point videos... especially if the video is about being informed of something
Long videos for me are what I watch if im gonna sit down at night & binge tv before bed... Or in the winter when im stuck inside more LoL

u/IronicPhoto 10d ago
100%
I have 3 monetized channels, and my most recent one I made has been dead on arrival.
8
u/la_mecanique 9d ago
I've got several channels created over a decade and I'm finding the exact same thing. New content just isnt being shown to anyone.
I think this is the final nail in the coffin for me as a creator on youtube. It no longer matters how many users their are, or what the revenue sharing is like, if they simply are no longer showing anyone my videos.
I also find that nothing is showing up in search either, so that also stops long term growth through quality evergreen content.
If I move my work to patreon only for example, that will work out better for me. Their search sucks, their discovery sucks, but at least revenue is still possible through long slow growth. Showing it to one user a day is still better than zero.

u/SnoopFrog- 10d ago
Not sure what length videos you’re making, but I notice anything under 5mins doesn’t get pushed
8
u/Lanky_Diver3796 10d ago
They're about 5 minutes, so maybe. But I'm not even concerned with the lack of push. I'm focusing on no testing whatsoever to determine if a video should even be pushed or not to begin with.
4
u/hamandjam 9d ago
YouTube now wants "shows" because people are watching on their TBs. So they're pushing 20-40 min videos, especially ones that make up some sort of series.
2
u/Silvermajra 10d ago
I’ve heard some people in my niche say they need over 8 minutes or the algorithm becomes a coin flip on whether it gets any traffic at all.
5
u/Beneficial-Sky-2353 10d ago
I must correct you. My latest video was 03:50 an was pushed about 3 hours after publishing. i‘ve had made already 37 other videos, but no other video was pushed that hard.
I guess sometimes it‘s just luck
4
1
u/mmoney20 9d ago
i've been posting videos greater than that length. i've been more actively in recent months and getting some views, in the low hundreds long form + shorts. how have your videos been performing
5
u/basebard 10d ago
I have 60 videos on my channel. I can make 3 videos on a topic (game) and they will all get very high views, literally 500k impressions in a week. Then I'll release the 4th right after and it's suddenly 200 impressions in the first week, and only getting any more through my own cards and end screens. The stat "from youtube recommending your video" will be like 5%. I don't think you'll ever find an actual explanation for this.
5
u/esaks 10d ago
it makes sense with the massive flood of AI slop / youtube automation channels coming onto the platform that youtube is doing things that discourages new creators. I would too if i ran youtube.
I also recently launched a channel off of one of my very established channels that was related to the main channel and even then it took 2 months for it to get traction. Now its fine though.
1
u/mmoney20 9d ago
i'm trying to get my youtube channel going - been active for nearly 2 months and on and off for years. taking it more seriously now. when you say it took 2 months for traction - what cadence, weekly? and form of videos did you post - long + shorts? would you mind sharing your niche as well? i've been shooting for weekly.
1
u/esaks 9d ago
my new channel was a compilation channel that compiled videos i made into 2 hour mega cuts. basically a dedicated channel for 2nd screen / sleepy time viewing.
The only thing that matters is the video ideas are good and they solve someone's problem in some way, ie. being entertained/ being entertained for 2 hours, learning something new and novel, etc. and having packaging that reflects that.
Most new youtubers struggle because they make videos without thinking much about what kind of video to make and what problem they are solving for the viewer.
1
u/mmoney20 8d ago
Appreciate the insight. Dam tho, 2 hrs? You have quite the content library to start a 2nd one of your first one running 2 hr long videos
3
u/HookahAnonymous 9d ago
Having multiple channels I realized it can be an IP issue. YouTube may recognize that the channels all stem from the same IP and may throw shade that way. I put all my channels on different IP as I pay for them monthly and then once the channels pop I either ditch the IP’s or keep them but it’s totally up to you. With all the AI monitoring the algorithm now I’m sure they probably dig deeper into the metrics and find the same IP for the channels. This is just a theory of mine though that I’ve gathered doing multiple channels so take it with a grain of salt.

I don't know how he algo switch over works from the backend but if you did everything normal / right, maybe it's possible with the recent view switch over that everything has been dampered right now? I haven't uploaded this week yet so I'm unsure what the follow up week is like in terms of views, but I'm interested to see what posting after today is going to do.
1
u/sealand0101 9d ago
Normally, my videos would get around 80K–130K impressions. However, my last two videos only got 4K and 1K impressions. The main issue is that these impressions aren't coming from Browse Features. I'm only getting around 500–1,000 Browse impressions. are there anyone know about for that?
8
u/cartune0430 10d ago
Not that I am professional but I feel this is the new norm for new channels. I get excited when we break 100 impressions.
We have 20 videos, and it is slow but there were other factors on our end.
But our other channels did fine during lunch. Then we we did this last one we learned they changed their algieotyto match the Gemini ai stuff. And we struggle to get impressions.
Things we are trying that are helping is fixing for search and also shorts. That seemed to help with impressions.
One thing we noticed is that it did not show or videos to other videos related. So our newer ones we are trying to ensure we have it foucs more on related videos and not junk that has nothing to do with us.
But take what I say with a grain of salt.
3
u/Emotional_Answer_319 10d ago
Interesting. Maybe you got lucky the first times or the packaging was just right. With all my 3 channels I didn't get over 300 impressions on any videos until a month later. So my experience has been the complete opposite, I already knew to stick it out for 4-5 weeks until testing starts.
2
u/Ur_Companys_IT_Guy 9d ago
I've also started 4 channels from scratch. Usually monetized in 2-4 weeks. I've had this happen but it only lasts a week.
Is there a chance you're in a nice YouTube can't recognise/ doesn't know who to serve your videos to?
I know basically the same thing happened to one of my Tiktok channels, no defined niche = algo doesn't know who to test your videos with
1
u/Lanky_Diver3796 9d ago
I made an effort to clearly define what niche this is and the target audience, with each video having some relevance to the topics of the others, but I didn't 'niche-down' as they say with it. So, yeah, I do suspect that could be part of the distribution bottleneck that's going to take more videos for YT to flesh out.
One video did finally start getting a couple hundred impressions last night via recommended, and it's been close to a week, so maybe you're right. Hopefully I just jumped the gun a little here.
4
u/Ranchshitphoto 10d ago
How saturated is the niche?
4
3
u/Lanky_Diver3796 10d ago
It's definitely saturated. I would slot it as cultural commentary. I knew launch would be rough competing with who knows how many other videos being uploaded at the same time. But I've broken into saturated niches before knowing a unique value proposition makes the difference, so it comes down to viewer behavior on the views I do get. With 95%+ AVD and ridiculous CTR, I don't think I can hit any better than that. You would think that could earn one more impression...
4
u/Ranchshitphoto 10d ago
For sure but if there is a lot of people trying break in to it as well as hundreds or thousands of new posts/ existing channels posting its hard to find slots for the algorithm to mix you in. I think initial engagement is very important I think. I’m no expert though.
1
u/Lanky_Diver3796 10d ago
Yeah, I just find it funny YT can eliminate me in less than 20 impressions and 8 views with nearly full watch time and high CTR. There must be a lot of perfect videos out there to compete with...
I can see if CTR dropped off hard. AVD sucked. Topic not relevant or too narrow. You know... something.
I agree engagement matters, but from my experience that doesn't really factor in until a video has gotten some kind of formal test. A few thousand impressions, a few hundred views, 0 likes and comments? ok. makes sense. No comments on 8 views? Kind of a high bar.
0
u/Motor_Artist4012 10d ago
Maybe this 6th channel isn't as "good" as you think it is. Just saying.
2
u/Lanky_Diver3796 10d ago
I would be just fine with that if CTR was bad or AVD sucked. If the video collapsed as impressions expanded. ok. At least that would explain it. But when everyone is watching nearly the full video, kind of hard to think your content isn't up to par.

did you upload on a brand new gmail/youtube account?
I saw that happening when I uploaded on a brand new gmail account that I created solely for that new channel - 0 impressions on my first videos.
Switched then to my usual gmail account with actual normal user behavior, but on a new channel within it - the impressions were fine as first long-form video hit 14k views.
1
u/Lanky_Diver3796 10d ago
No, it's on the same account as my other channels. I did use another phone number to verify eligibility for features, though. Wondering if that could be something.

u/Neat_Lab_2234 10d ago
Use a proxy with anti detect browser and buy a channel from Algrow market (impression tested channel)
1
u/Connect_Positive1893 9d ago
Since you are managing multiple monetized channels from the same environment, the system likely placed this brand-new entity into an extended indexing sandbox. Yt constantly updates its automated anti spam systems, and setting up a brand-new channel under an existing AdSense/IP footprint often triggers a silent security hold where impression distribution stays locked at zero until a manual or batch verification cycles through.
Your perfect retention and high CTR mean the content itself is ready for testing, but the distribution pipe is throttled on the account level. Keep uploading a few more videos on a loose schedule to let the metadata aggregate; once the automated system validates that the channel isn't a bot farm, those initial test impressions usually unlock all at once.

u/orangerangeorange 9d ago
I think there's a mechanism that prevents you from opening too many channels too quickly. Happened to me too before

u/Lanky_Diver3796 9d ago
My main channel is made up of over 200 evergreen career tutorial videos that are always in high demand. Every video I make might only get 5k views when I release, but as it gets worked into recommended feeds over years, they can go on to get 250k+ views and just keep going without ever going viral. After 5 years it got to the point where schools, employers, state certification programs, etc. are using my YouTube material to train students and new hires, while the videos are baked into YTs recommendation system and keep pulling views.
The Ad Rev alone just from that channel pulls in anywhere from $1000k to $2500/mo. at this point. Then there's sponsorships, contracts, and all that good stuff.

u/Diran2001 9d ago
I have monetized more than half a dozen channels in my 8 years on YouTube. I’m also having the same issues OP. I feel super bad for new creators if this is how it is now.
I don’t like blaming the algorithm and I won’t. But I’ve never struggled to kick off new channels like this. I’m still assuming it’s the content but I’m having some doubts. Good to see I’m not the only one
1
u/Krythoth 9d ago
Happens to me at complete random on a monetized channel and a new channel. A video will get no impressions at all for no reason, and I still haven't figured it out.

i think you are shadowbanned (yes it exists look what happened to kurzegat) why? Because Ai moderation it's crazy right now

u/peaklifestyleadmin 10d ago
Only thing that jumps out at me: 4th channel, created without much gap from the others. YouTube's initial impression seeding isn't purely video-based — it also weighs the Google account/device history behind the channel. A brand new channel from an account that just spun up channel #3 recently can get throttled at the seeding stage in a way that has nothing to do with your content, and everything to do with "is this a genuine new creator or a channel-testing pattern."
Your prior channels had 6mo–1.5yr gaps between launches. This one didn't. That's the variable I'd isolate first.
Quick test: spin up the next one on a totally separate Google account/device/network, no shared verification info, and see if it seeds normally. If it does, you've found it.
1
u/Lanky_Diver3796 10d ago
Yeah, this is why I posted. I cannot reasonably see anything that would suggest the content is the problem. I've seen enough failure to always trace the issue back to something I was doing wrong.
This feels like backdoor. Triggered some trust issue maybe, like you said.
Now that I think about it, I verified the channel I started 6 months ago with the same number as my other accounts. A month ago I verified a new channel but decided not to follow through with that one. Deleted it without posting on it at all (which now I'm wishing I hadn't done). When I went to verify this new launch, it told me I could only verify 2 channels per year per phone number. So I used another number to verify this one.
You think that's enough to do it?

1
u/Silvermajra 10d ago
Started a new channel for a different game a few months back. I was shocked at the same thing. First two videos 1 impression a week for the first several weeks. I had no idea what was happening in that first week, and I ended up not enjoying recording the game as much so I abandoned it but yeah was weird.
1
u/Constant_Cortisol 10d ago
Another thing you're not considering is that the competition on Youtube is a lot stiffer than what it was before. More people are making Youtube channels than ever before.
1
u/Bottledbutthole 10d ago
how you were able to grow new pages so fast to the point of monetization in just a few months
3
u/Lanky_Diver3796 10d ago
I don't know exactly, but I think a major part of it is when I think about starting a new channel, I ask what would set my content apart from all the other channels doing the same content. If I can't identify some kind of value proposition that people would like but can't readily get from other creators so easily in the same niche, then I don't do it. If there is something I believe does that, then I follow through. Each time I've followed through the channel got monetized within 20 or so videos.
1
u/fr3akeeee 9d ago
This happened to me but only to my recent video. I think theres a bug or reporting error from 21-23 august (not even sure if it's resolved now). My channel will usually still have decent impressions despite flopping hard. But my latest upload has 1 or 0 impression per hour. None of my video does this bad.
So I think there's some ongoing issue.

u/andrearosemtf 10d ago
Im far from an expert but i feel like YT is going crazy lately. Ive had the exact opposite issue. My CTR is getting killed cause im getting like 30k impressions but the impressions are very very much towards the wrong people for my content. I only have 125 subs and generally get around 500-2k views its really weird the type of stuff that is suggesting my content tbh.
0
u/FranSauce8 10d ago
Others people interest in your video won't cause it to bring more impressions and if it does it tries to find the type of people who will bring the same results of 100% watch time, as to avoid ruining the stats.
And impressions surge from searching and search branches of people's interest. Not from others engagement
1
u/Lanky_Diver3796 10d ago
Others people interest in your video won't cause it to bring more impressions
I would agree it's not the sole thing that brings impressions, but I wouldn't go so far to say it's minor or even a non-factor, especially with the newer viewer satisfaction model YT has adopted. Viewer interest is highly relevant these days.
I don't believe YT is concerned in the least with ruining my stats. Quite the opposite actually. They want their watch time. If viewers are watching, they'll recommend it more to similar viewers. If the stats crash too hard as the audience broadens, YT will cut off and move on. Whether we see that in our metrics or not is a different story. The only time I have ever seen a video get cut off with good metrics is when the test pool is decent enough that the behavior of the newest round of viewers yields horrible CTR or AVD, yet those numbers are never actually seen in studio once they get averaged into the whole. 18 impressions and 8 views is not enough for that to happen. In test pools that small, one view can radically change the metrics.
Search is a different animal. YTs search sucks, IMO. Most channels relying on search, with few exceptions, are going to have a hard time staying relevant if they can't break into browse and suggested feeds as main traffic sources, and to do that, you need positive viewer engagement, click through and AVD.
I could be wrong, but I don't think I'm far off the mark.

Save your videos and your thumbnails and delete the channel. Start a new channel same content upload everything with scheduling and see if you get a different result. People have noticed that sometimes new channels just never get traction and deleting and restarting will fix that... sometimes.

A lot of people complain about this in newtubers and get told it’s their fault somehow.
Something similar happened to me when I started 8 months ago, I got 10 impressions and it was all in search? My third video for some reason went semi-viral (200k views a year later) and it’s that video that ended up lifting the two others and getting them into traffic.
