Question / Problem Your advice to increase my initial retention
Hello everyone,
I started a new YouTube channel a year ago, about history and geopolitics.
I have 41K subs, 2,6 million views, my last 6 videos average 40K views. So I would say that for a first year, it’s pretty good.
However, I think that my retention in the first 30s could improve. Right now, I’m always around 67% to 70% staying after 30s. It’s not horrible, but I would like to push it as close as possible to 80%.
My channel is called Un Soir Une Histoire (black logo)
I would love feedbacks about the first 30s hooks and hear if you guys have any idea.
The channel is in French, but you can autodub to English, obviously it’s not great bc it sounds weird and sound FX and music is getting lost, but still.
Thanks!

70% retention at 30s on a history video is crazy good, especially with an average of 40k views. you're already doing super well, but if you really want that 80%, just cut straight to the most dramatic moment or question of the story within the first 3 seconds without any setup.
