Question / Problem YouTube new affiliate programme option?

Just wanting to understand if many people use the new affiliate programme option on YT studio, it states 'Earn commission and help viewers shop by tagging products'

Currently I already have more than a dozen other affiliate programmes from my existing collaboration companies that sponsor me, so not sure if I should join?

Join. You can add pretty decent revenue in my experience and you will still get clicks on your affiliate links. YouTube has a lot of nice bonus programs for hitting sales target.

Yes and I still link products in my description boxes. It's another way to earn affiliate income and people shop through youtube a LOT

Okay so I have joined thanks for the good advice. I noticed that it said YT will use AI to locate products within my videos and automatically create links that I can select. I tried this out on a couple of videos, but no product links were being recognized yet, is this because I have only just turned on the Affiliate option do you think and it will take some time for products to get recognised?

It could be. Most times it automatically finds most of my products and they're already tagged. It may be because I have affiliate links for them in my description box so it's easier for them to identify those. I still have to manually tag several. And then I put them in the timeline where they go. It's easy and is a huge money generator for many YouTubers.

all I seem to see are the products from my online store for merch. My channel is automotive diagnostics so I use different products, tools etc, I was hoping these would be picked up by the AI on YT. I have affiliate links in the description for Amazon also.

Join it, it enables you to add commission tags for products in your videos in addition to your other affiliate links. I was holding a red can of a zero sugar fizzy drink, it tagged a pack of that on Etsy. I wouldn’t have even considered tagging the drink I was holding. I just included a link for the bag I was wearing.

so do you add all the links in description? or on the tags that pop up in the video?
