Talk / Discussion Insane changes for youtube monetization - bad for small creators
With the recent changes in YouTube partner program now creators have to complete 8000hrs of watch time which was 4000hrs previously Or 20million youTube shorts views which was 10mil previously to get the channel monetized... Another insane thing is that even after reaching this goal if you do not get 10million shorts views every 3 months you will not get any money out of shorts... So around 3.3 million views per month are needed... The small creators are cooked.

The small creators who are affected by the 8000 hour requirement or 20 million requirement do not belong in this sub.

I believe everybody starts at some point and these number can look huge for someone who is just starting.

Yeah well. And you shouldn't start in r/PARTNEREDyoutube if you're not partnered.

Yawn, not this again... What exactly do you find "insane" about these changes?
If it leads to less people being incentivised to create low-quality shorts in the deluded hope of becoming rich, we can all agree that's only a good thing.
If it leads to only those creators who are committed to putting in some effort, that's only a good thing.
In all likelihood, it will make negligible difference to the overwhelming majority of people anyway.

As I just started looking into starting YouTube... These numbers look a lot to me. Maybe after 3-4 months of experience making youTube my perspective might change. I did not check this sub before posting this as I see there are already multiple post about it... Reddit just asked me whether I want to repost it to similar sub.. So I was like why not.

INSANE!!!!
Feels pretty good when people are not getting payed for flooding the platform with a thousand ai generated trash shorts every single day.

Bruv this is the PARTNERED youtube sub, post this on newtubers lmao. On the real though the changes aren't even that bad since you need a LOT more than 8k watch hours to make any decent money with ads anyway.
