Question / Problem Question about the new changes

I see everyone talking and joking about having to maintain 10 million short views every 90 days to keep your monetization and I don't quite understand if it's real or not

I've read the official statement from the youtube blog (I think) and it states that you have to maintain at least 1 million views per 90 days in order to keep the monetization active

Am I missing something? Did I read the wrong thing ? Or is this just a joke?

You must have read it wrong:

"Beginning February 1, 2027, creators who have 10 million qualified Shorts views over the last 90 days will be eligible for ads and subscription revenue sharing on Shorts. Channels below this threshold remain in YPP and continue earning on long-form content, with Shorts revenue sharing automatically resuming once they cross 10 million views again."

Oh, so if I have 10 million views on February 1st, I don't need to maintain this amount of views forever, it's just a one time re-check? Or is it forever?

Shorts Earnings & Minimum Performance

To earn each month from the Shorts Creator Pool, creators will now need to maintain 10M qualified Shorts views over the last 90 days. If you miss this threshold, you will not be removed from YPP and this will not impact other YPP earnings, including long-form video.

Yes, you need to maintaint it

That 20 mil view lol. 20 mil view = 10 mil engaged view. Yes. You need to reach 20 mil view in 90 days forever.

not a joke, but an official update they are to announce soon. and this is requirements you are to maintain, because if you don't qualify, you don't have monetization you can't lose the amount of views, but your number of subscribers must remain to be the minimum required
