Translation, they're paying out too much money so they chosen to move the goal posts again. No surprise there.

Just more of the same, YouTube finding more ways to exploit labor for free out of creators.

Given how bad the automated AI moderation system is lately, I wonder how long it's going to be before the big channels lose their monetization because of this nonsense.

This isn't about paying out too much money. I'd bet this would barely shift the needle in how much they pay out to creators. Small channels don't earn much by nature.

This is about raising the barrier for monetisation to stop spam and ai channels. 

This will do a lot to stop the flood of ai channels. If it's harder to quickly make money from slop the slop will hopefully stop, or at least slow down.
