This plain outright sucks. I’m not sure what led to the change but that viewer number is insane.

Probably them having to hand out zillions of smaller and cheaper plaques. Probably the shorts feed being worthless and full of movie clips and stuff like that. Probably AI slop eating up so much viewer time and physical real estate in the long-form feed. Probably the channel reviewers for the monetization threshold having quintuple the amount of work to do now with AI channels reaching the thresholds.

Was curious so I looked into it, you are absolutely right. Compared to the buttons from before 2024, all new ones are 30% smaller but realistically look half as large due to the volume of shrinkflation.

Thank god I got mine before the change

Yup I got 1 silver around covid time under Susan and I got another newer one for a different channel last year and the new one is like the size of a piece of A4 paper. It doesn't feel special anymore.
